The City of Fort Morgan is pleased to recognize El Valle Restaurant as our June Business of the Month. Owners Gabriel and Ana Pablo entered the food scene with their San Miguel food truck, which still serves customers today in front of Autozone. Through operating it, they gained cooking skills, developed signature dishes, and acquired business operational skills and savvy. Several years later, they opened their first brick and mortar restaurant, San Miguel off Ensign Street.
When a highly visible location on Platte Avenue became available to purchase, the Pablo family decided to expand again, and El Valle restaurant became their newest venture a year and a half ago with its own unique menu of delectable dishes.
A considerable investment both in the interior as well as exterior of the building was made in turning the former garage and autobody shop into a pleasant sit-down restaurant where customers can enjoy the homemade tortillas, sopes, and gorditas that Ana prepares weekly in its kitchen. El Valle is open seven days a week, like their other food establishments, and employs 12 to 15 employees among the trio of businesses in order to serve local as well as traveling patrons.
Not only do they serve customers, but they serve the community through contributions to various fundraisers in Fort Morgan. The business is also a member of the Fort Morgan Area Chamber of Commerce.
El Valle serves as an example of the hard effort and tenacity it takes to establish and grow a small business. The lessons learned and proceeds from their small food truck operations are what funded the restaurant located at 129 West Platte Avenue sixteen years later. Congratulations!

As May comes to an end and we reach the final week of ICC Building Safety Month, we want to highlight the dedicated individuals in the City of Fort Morgan Building Department!

Meet the team:
🔹Rocky – Chief Building Official
🔹Kayla - Building Permit Technician
🔹Kelly - Public Works Administrative Assistant

Together, these individuals help keep Fort Morgan residents safe by ensuring all local building practices align with current building codes, construction methods, and city ordinances.

As the city's Chief Building Official, Rocky brings a lifetime of knowledge and experience in construction and building safety. His background allows him to quickly identify structural concerns and understand the importance of safe practices throughout a project. For Rocky, safety is a core value driven by first-hand experience of real-life consequences of unsafe work environments.

While Rocky is out in the field, Kayla is usually the first point of contact for residents, businesses, and contractors. However, her role is more than just great customer service and answering questions. She helps organize project documents; reviews requests for permits, assesses basic jobsite plans, and helps educate the public on zone locations and requirements.

When Kayla is out of the office, Kelly steps in to assist customers and provide support for the front counter. Her assistance helps the department run smoothly and ensures residents always have someone available to help them.

The City of Fort Morgan Building Department plays a critical role in our community, and jobsite safety, structural integrity, and construction projects don’t just end in May! Our dedicated team is always here to answer questions and help with your next project!
