The intersection of Riverview Avenue and Main Street is now open to traffic!

Construction crews have been working diligently over the last several months to install more than 2,800 feet of new 60-inch storm sewer infrastructure and have replaced over 1,000 feet of existing storm sewer and water infrastructure, starting at 8th Avenue and Ensign Street and extending to the outfall located north of I-76.

The new system now includes storm drainage pipe that will reduce the risk of localized flooding for our neighbors living in the area of 8th Avenue and Ensign Street.

As construction crews complete the finishing touches on this project, drivers should expect temporary lane reductions in the coming days.

We want to thank the community for their patience during this major project.

Congratulations to Standard Glass on being chosen as the Business of the Month!

Stay connected with what’s happening in Fort Morgan’s business community by liking and following the City of Fort Morgan Economic Development page!

It was a privilege to recognize Standard Glass as the City of Fort Morgan's Business of the Month recipient at last night's city council meeting. The family owned business has been a mainstay in the Fort Morgan community for more than 50 years and has provided commercial, residential, and automotive glass repair and replacement needs.
Standard Glass was purchased in 2014 by Ray Keefe from another respected local business owner, Steve Crabill. Ray felt strongly about keeping the business family owned and committed to serving the community. Originally located on Railroad Avenue, the Keefe's moved operations into a larger space located at 216 State Street after three years of operation. Son Trystan joined the business after serving in the military, and for the past three years, he has served as the store's general manger.
As the industry has evolved, the Keefe's continued to invest in newer tools, equipment, and technology while still staying committed to personalized local service. Many customers have recognized Standard Glass for its fair, competitive pricing, helpful staff, professional installation work, and use of quality material. The locally owned and operated business also supports numerous organizations that make Fort Morgan a better place and enhances its community fabric.
Congratulations, Standard Glass, for your outstanding efforts and contributions in making Fort Morgan a great place to live, work, and enjoy!

Connecting communities, one pole at a time!

A City of Fort Morgan Light and Power Department crew recently returned from participating in the Light Up Navajo initiative. This initiative allows municipalities to partner with the Navajo Tribal Utility Authority (NTUA) to help bring electricity to Tribal members.

Journeyman Evan A., apprentice lineman Juan C., and apprentice lineman Wesley C. made the 12-hour drive to the Navajo Nation earlier this month with a bucket truck and a 4x4 pickup to volunteer their time and skills.

The three-man crew spent their first day learning about the culture, safety, local wildlife, and what to expect before they were paired with local NTUA teammates Thomas, Tony, and John.

The crew set and climbed over 35 poles to install hardware and run miles of electrical lines through sand dunes and rocky terrain in the desert heat and wind for nearly a week. Together, they connected four new homes to the grid and provided electricity to families who’ve used oil lamps, candles, or small solar kits.

This experience allowed the lineman crew to witness firsthand how electricity can transform lives. Tribal members shared stories about what it means to have power, with one woman expressing her joy about having a monthly electricity bill and the pride that comes with paying for the services.

Others expressed their willingness to share their power with their parents who lived close by, just so they could have air conditioning. Both stark reminders of the crews, infrastructure, and services taken for granted.

We’re incredibly proud of Evan, Juan, and Wesley’s hard work and eagerness to represent Fort Morgan in such a life-changing project!

🚧Ensign Storm Sewer Project Update 🚧

If you’re traveling to Fort Morgan this weekend, downtown Fort Morgan can be accessed using Exit 80, as the intersection of Main Street and Riverview Avenue are back open.

However, on Monday, July 13, SMH West crews will close the intersection starting at 5:00 a.m. to complete the remaining work on the project. This closure is anticipated to last approximately two weeks as crews complete manhole installations and tie-in the 60-inch storm sewer pipe to the manhole at the intersection of Riverview Avenue and Main Street.

Once complete, crews will begin repaving the intersection. During repaving, if conditions allow two-way traffic will be permitted for northbound and southbound travelers.

Upon completion, SMH West will coordinate with the City of Fort Morgan Water Department to upgrade the water lines in Main Street, preventing future road closures.

While crews are upgrading the waterlines, the intersection will be opened with partial lane reductions in all directions.

Businesses impacted by this closure will remain open to the public during this time and can be accessed using the following routes:

➡ McDonald Toyota Fort Morgan, Korf CDJR Fort Morgan, Alvarado’s & McDonald’s: Access via West 9th Avenue to Meeker Street.

➡ Arby’s & Maverick: Access via Fremont Street to State Street.

➡ Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, & Phillips 66: Take Exit 80 from I-76.

🔸Note: To re-enter Fort Morgan from these locations, motorists must get back on I-76 at Exit 80 and use either Exit 79 or Exit 82.

Congratulations to Century 21 Cornerstone on its selection as our Business of the Month! For more than a decade, Mary and Adam Walter and their team of ten Realtors and three managers have done more than help families buy and sell homes and properties. They have continued to invest and contribute in the community they love. The list of local organizations and nonprofits that have been touched through this business's generosity is almost endless. As Mary notes, "We want to emulate and occupy a cornerstone in the community, and one of the best ways to do this is to give back through support."
