Dispatchers are always an under appreciated part of our team. Thank you being the voice on the other end of the radio!

Once a dispatcher, always a dispatcher. Today we are remembering ours. πŸ’›

🎧 602

There was a voice on the other end of the worst day.
Steady when nothing else was.
It did not shake and it did not rush,
and it stayed on the line until help came through the door.

She never saw the faces.
They never saw hers.
They only knew that somebody answered,
and that somebody was 602.

The tones are cleared.
The console is dark.
The headset is hung up for good.

602, your watch is over.
Former Supervisor Sheila Hastings, you are 10-7.

We have it from here. πŸ’›

πŸš’ πŸ”₯ ❀️ Today, we recognize an incredible member of the Fort Morgan Fire Department family as he begins his well-earned retirement!

After nearly 43 years of dedicated service to our department, Kurt Coup [Red 18] is hanging up the radio one final time.

Kurt began his fire service career with the Fort Morgan Fire Department in October 1983, proudly serving as a firefighter for 21Β½ years before retiring from active firefighting in July 2005. Even after retiring from the fireground, his commitment to our department didn't stop. Kurt continued serving as one of our station dispatchers, a role he held from September 1991 through July 2026,an incredible 34 years and 10 months of helping guide our crews safely to emergencies, keeping and maintaining all our trucks and station, and keeping track of us and resources on big fire calls!

If you've ever responded to a call with Kurt on shift, you know exactly what made him so special. His unmistakable raspy voice and contagious laugh became a familiar source of comfort for generations of firefighters. Whether it was the middle of a freezing winter night, a difficult call, or just another busy day at the station, Kurt always found a way to keep everyone smiling and reminded us why we love being part of this family.

Kurt has inspired countless firefighters throughout the years. Many of those he encouraged and mentored are still proudly serving our department today. His dedication, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting impact that will continue for years to come.

Kurt, thank you for your decades of selfless service in every role you've held at the Fort Morgan Fire Department. Thank you for the laughs, the guidance, the memories, and for helping pave the way for those who followed in your footsteps.

From all of us at the Fort Morgan Fire Department, congratulations on your retirement. You've earned it, and you'll always be a part of our fire family.

Please join us in wishing Kurt Coup a happy and well-deserved retirement! πŸš’πŸ”₯ ❀️

Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the three courageous heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as the two others who were injured while selflessly protecting our state. They embody the unwavering dedication and bravery that every firefighter strives for with each response. Their extraordinary sacrifice will forever be etched in our memories.

Please hold the entire fire service in your prayers for a safe and protected fire season.
