Today the Fort Morgan Fire Department Honor Guard performed our first ceremony since its inception and for a good reason. It has been 20 years since that dreadful day but it still feels like it just happened. We will never forget. Thank you to all the brave men and women both on that day and beyond. God Bless America! 🇺🇸

The FMFD would like to extend our appreciation for allowing us to use the 100 block of Main Street for hose testing. Each year we test every piece of hose we carry to insure it meets safety requirements. This is the first year we have contracted the testing out, which provides a quicker and safer way of testing. With the cooperation of the community we were able to get the testing done in less then 2 days. We would also like to thank the street department for helping us shut the road down.

As we enter into what we call "Grass Season" there is no better way to prepare and hone our skills than a live burn. Great job to our fire fighters last night at the Fort Morgan Quail Dunes Golf Course for performing a very controlled and well executed live burn of some of the dry native area which will make way for new vegetation and help to prevent future grass fires.

Now that they are starting to report possible snow amounts, start preparing now for the large amount of snow. That way you don't have to be out in it. Stay home stay safe. But if we are needed we will be there! Stay safe everyone!!

A winter storm Watch has been issued for Friday evening through Sunday night. This could be a high impact event with near impossible travel on Saturday.

02/11/2021

Temperatures will be bitterly cold with dangerously cold wind chills possible this weekend. The coldest air is expected to arrive by Sunday and Sunday night. Ensure outdoor pets and livestock have a source of water that is not frozen and provide shelter if possible. Ensure heating systems are working properly and pipes are insulated against the cold. The prolonged period of cold temperatures will also be hazardous to people who do not have adequate shelter or heating, so preparations should begin now.

Many months ago the Department was able to pay it forward and donate some extracation equipment to Kelford Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. A small rual town in North Carolina, they have been without this kind of equipment and would wait up to 30 min for a neighboring dept to show up and help extracate. After moths of not being able to have in house trainings they where finally able to put there extracation equipment into service. Here are a few pics of our Brothers and Sisters from Kelford training with the equipment and getting better knowledge of of to use it.

Many Fort Morgan residents have expressed their concerns over the excessive amount of smoke that is currently throughout town and in the county and we would like to assure you that at the time of this post there are no active fires in or around Fort Morgan. With the northern winds we are seeing the smoke from the Cameron Peak fire that is making its way along the river valley. We appreciate the citizens in their diligence on making sure our community is safe and the Fort Morgan Fire Department will continue to remain diligent as well. Thank you
