DONATIONS & VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: January is a busy month for us with Point in Time (PIT) Counts. We need donations and volunteers to hand out supplies to and take survey of our unsheltered homeless communities in Lee and Collier Counties.

Who - We need adult volunteers. If you are bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole, even better!

What - PIT Counts are designed to provide HUD information on the current homelessness situation in our area. Our volunteers go to encampments and hand out resources/supplies while taking count of the number of homeless in our area.

When - We will be going out multiple days. 1/25/25 in Fort Myers for our Lee County count. 1/30/25 in Immokalee and 1/31/25 in Naples.

Where - Meeting location addresses are provided in the graphics below. For more detailed information, please send us a message.

WHY - HUD uses this collected information to understand the needs in our community and generate funding sources.

If you would like to DONATE supplies, please contact our office to coordinate a drop-off. If your organization or business would like to partner for a donation drive, please send us a message on social media!

My wife and I had our camper detailed by Steven and his crew from Mohawk RV detailing. They did a fantastic job!

We are happy to share a photo of our new trailer. It is a self contained trailer with 275 gallons of reverse osmosis water, meaning we have the ability to detail your RV in a park… or even in a field! Call us today to make an appointment to get your RV looking its best!

Dr. Garcia facilitated the Lee County Homeless Coalition continuum of care meeting in February on mental health in our community – she is an excellent facilitator!

MENTOR MONDAY

My name is Yaro Garcia. I have been a mental health provider for years. I have also been teaching in higher education and counseling in clinical practice since 2013. I still enjoy both (treating and educating). In the past, I served as a clinical director of a shelter for survivors of violent crimes for seven years.

My Ph.D. is in General Psychology with an emphasis on Cognition. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have been regionally and nationally recognized as an expert and advocate concerning human trafficking. I won a Purple Heart Award for my work with this population.

I am currently the executive director of my group practice called Therapy Treatment Team and a non-profit called Counseling for Community Wellness (CCW), where we provide on-site counseling services at rural and underserved organizations. Currently, the CCW team provides counseling at 10 sites, including shelters-adult and minors, after-school programs, children experiencing grief, and families in crisis.
