Our United Way has a long and proud history of serving our community. In 1957, a handful of women and men decided Fort Myers needed an organized way to help those in need. A caring community agreed and worked together to make it happen. They formed the organization that you now know as United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades. Over the past 65 years our United Way has raised and distributed over $221

million dollars and has helped our community’s social service network change the lives of countless numbers of people in our community. Our United Way now has over 90 Partner Agencies, more than 260 programs and initiatives, and 17 United Way Houses throughout our community.

A HUGE thank you to Trinity Commercial Group “TCG Cares” team who raised over $2700 to support Franklin Park Elementary School with uniforms and school supplies! Not only did they raise funds, they came for a tour and helped unpack the donation! Now THAT’S full circle! We are so appreciative of the love TCG has for our community. They are true heroes and we are incredibly grateful for their partnership!

Hot off the press!!
WE MET THE GOAL!

Through the generosity of donors, businesses, foundations, partner agencies and community supporters, United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades has successfully reached the annual campaign goal, ensuring funding for critical programs and services that serve thousands of individuals and families.

The achievement follows the launch of our “One in a Million” campaign, a community-wide effort that rallied support to help close a significant $1.6 million funding gap needed to reach the $11,512,716 goal to fund partner agencies and United Way-operated programs for the 2025-2026 campaign. Campaign funding supports both United Way-operated programs and its network of 92 partner agencies that collectively improve the lives of more than 500,000 people in the community through services including food assistance, housing support, youth programs, educational opportunities and other essential resources.

“This accomplishment is an example of how our community steps up in big ways to ensure critical services remain available across our community,” said Hannah Pelle, interim president and CEO of United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades. “When we shared the need, our community responded with generosity and a steadfast commitment to helping our neighbors. We are so grateful for all who stepped up to make this possible.”

We want say THANK YOU and extend our gratitude to every donor, business, foundation, partner agency and board member who helped make the campaign a success. As a result, 178 individuals and corporations made gifts of all sizes, while a smaller group of community partners also stepped forward with increased gifts, matching donations and fundraising efforts to help inspire others to give.

Notable examples of community support included:

$250,000 from Lee Health through the Lee Health Foundation

$100,000 matching gift from a private family foundation

$100,000 matching gift from Linda and Tom Uhler, longtime United Way supporters

$100,000 gift from Janie and Dean Schreiner

$100,000 gift from anonymous donor

Many United Way partner agencies launched their own challenges and fundraisers within their networks to help inspire giving

“We saw firsthand what is possible when our community comes together to make a difference,” said Carolyn Rogers, co-chair of the annual campaign. “Whether someone gave a first-time gift, increased a donation, fulfilled a pledge or made a transformational contribution, every act of generosity played a significant role in reaching this goal.”

As students head back to school today, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Back in Motion Physical Therapy & Performance for their generous donation of school supplies to support our School Resource Center.

Your gift will help ensure students across our community have the tools they need to start the school year ready to learn and succeed.

Through the School Resource Center, school supplies, clothing, and other essentials are distributed directly to students in public schools throughout Lee, Hendry, and Glades counties, helping remove barriers and support academic success.

Thank you for investing in local students and helping us make a difference from day one of the school year. Together, we are building a stronger future for every child in our community.

We honor the life and legacy of Jack Rogers, a longtime United Way supporter and founding force behind the Fiddlesticks United Way Committee.

Since 1998, the Fiddlesticks community has contributed more than $4.4 million to our United Way and has played an active role in volunteering throughout our community. That impact began with Jack's vision and leadership.

Thank you, Jack, for your lasting commitment to making Southwest Florida a better place for all. 💙
