Huge thank you to our incredible rescue partner Humane Society of Sarasota County!

Today, 13 pups hopped on the road and headed to their new temporary home at their facility!

We are so grateful for rescue partners who step up, open their doors, and help give our shelter pets the second chances they deserve. Together, we’re making a difference—one pup at a time!

In honor of National Police K-9 Day, we’re taking a moment to recognize and thank some very special four-legged heroes in our community.

Lee County Domestic Animal Services is proud to honor the K-9 partners of our community partners at the Lee County Sheriff's Office. These incredible dogs work alongside their handlers every day, using their intelligence, courage, and incredible sense of smell to help keep our community safe.

Behind every K-9 is a dedicated handler, and together they make an extraordinary team. We’re grateful for the commitment, bravery, and countless hours they devote to protecting and serving Lee County.

To the K-9s and their handlers: Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and everything you do for our community. Today, we’re giving you an extra-big tail wag of appreciation!

FOUND A PET? You may be able to help them get home without immediately bringing them to the shelter!

Lee County residents can use the Find My Pet Community Portal to search for an owner of a found dog or cat. Simply upload clear photos and information about the pet to the portal so owners have a chance to find their lost family member.

Find My Pet Community Portal – Search, Report & Reunite Lost Pets

If you use the portal, you have 72 hours to attempt to locate the owner. If the owner is not found during that time, the pet must be turned in to Lee County Domestic Animal Services within the 24 hours required by ordinance.

That means residents using the portal have up to 96 hours total to work toward reuniting the pet with its owner.

Not using the portal? Residents must follow the 24-hour ordinance requirement.

Found a pet? Take photos, upload the information, and give their family a chance to find them!
