Did you know tomorrow is World Turtle Day? 🐢

Meet the Florida Softshell Turtle, also known as Apalone Ferox. This female is one of the residents at Caloosahatchee Creeks Preserve!

These unique softshell turtles are native to Florida and parts of southern and eastern Georgia and South Carolina. Their primary diet consists of fish and snails, but they are also known to eat aquatic crustaceans, insects, mollusks, and amphibians.

On Wednesday, we hosted Keep Lee County Beautiful at Wild Turkey Strand Preserve for an Earth Day cleanup as part of their “Greatest American Cleanup” campaign to celebrate USA’s 250th anniversary.

Thanks to the Keep Lee County Beautiful staff and their 26 volunteers for all their hard work cleaning litter from the preserve's perimeter roads.
