Fundraising: Always double check to make sure there are no other big events or holidays going on in the area when planning a fundraiser.

Fundraising: The envelope as well as the first and last sentence of a fundraising letter are the most important. Spend some extra time to make sure they look good and double check *all* spelling. Add bold and underline throughout the letter to draw the reader's attention to the key points. Finish every letter with a P.S.

Fundraising: A pledge is not the same as a donation. As soon as someone pledges you money, do whatever it takes to get that money, even if you have to drive over to their house right after they make a pledge.

Fundraising: Money Bombs are great for getting a large amount of money in a short amount of time, but they should be used sparingly.

09/27/2012

Fundraising: Make it easy for someone to donate money to you.

09/26/2012

Fundraising: Make sure you have a budget and timeline made up so you know when an expense is coming up so you can push that much harder to raise money.

09/25/2012

Fundraising: Contact like-minded groups (e.g. Women, Home Schooling, Hunting and Liberty Groups) and ask for a donation *and* a chance to speak at one of their events.

09/24/2012

Fundraising: Contact your local party, congressional party and even state party and ask them for a donation.

09/23/2012

Fundraising: Ask other candidates from your same party to keep you in mind when they are talking with their donors. Many times, candidates will top out on specific donations and can ask those donors to give to you instead.

09/22/2012

Fundraising: People are more likely to give when they feel their is an urgency to your request. You can even write the word 'urgent' on the envelope.

09/21/2012

Fundraising: Always include PACs, unions, and large donors on your distribution lists when asking for money.

09/20/2012

Fundraising: Keep track of donors no matter how much they give so you can ask them for another donation later in the election as well as when you are running for re-election. As soon as somebody donates to you, even if it is only a few dollars, they become mentally invested in making sure that you win from that point forward.
