First editions of the memoirs of President Harry S. Truman. Octavo, two volumes, original black cloth, blue topstain. Both volumes are near fine an excellent dust jackets with some light wear and tear. Jacket design by Sidney Butchkes. Jacket photograph by Eliot Elisofon. "Truman s Memoirs are an invaluable record of the former president s tumultuous years in office, his early days in Missouri, and his rise in local and state politics. There are delightful glimpses of his family life, striking appraisals and anecdotes of world leaders such as Churchill, Stalin, Chiang and De Gaulle, and candid disclosures about the background of national and international events. But overshadowing all is the story of the glorious task of bringing a war to an end, of working for an enduring peace and leading the free world into a new age" (Doubleday).

Newest addition to First Edition, First Printing with the words "FIRST PUBLISHED BY THE VIKING PRESS IN NOVEMBER 1950" printed on the copyright page. A beautiful copy. This First Issue dustjacket is rich in color with some small chips with minor wear to the panels. The book is in good condition. The binding is tight with minor wear to the boards. A lovely copy with the original dust jacket. Burning Bright is a 1950 novella by John Steinbeck written as an experiment with producing a play in novel format. @ Fort Myers, Florida
