Even this bird knew who the heroes are and who to ask for help!

One of our A-Shift crews had this guest walk right up to them at one of our stations. After taking a closer look, firefighters discovered twine tightly wrapped around its beak, preventing it from opening its mouth.

Crews carefully caught the bird and removed the twine, freeing it from the entanglement. Once released into the pond behind the station, one of our firefighters even made sure the visitor got a fish before it flew away—because we all know nobody goes hungry at a fire station!

The Fort Myers Fire Department Region 6 Hazmat Team hosted a large-scale regional hazmat exercise focused on radiation emergencies using live radiation sources, simulated drug labs and explosives, and hazardous chemical containment incidents. Seven Regional Hazmat Teams and multiple state agencies participated to strengthen interagency coordination, technical response capabilities, and regional preparedness for complex hazardous materials emergencies.
