Same truck, fresh look!

The Fort Myers Fire Department’s 2014 Pierce Velocity is back with a fresh look and some major upgrades.

The truck received upgrades to its engine, transmission, fire pump, seating, lighting, and more.

Here’s the best part! A brand new fire engine can cost around 1 million, but by refurbishing we saved over $500,000.

With these upgrades, hopes to get more than five additional years out of this truck, while continuing to keep the City safe!

Shoutout to the Ten-8 Fire & Safety Forsyth Refurbishment team for getting Engine 14 up and running right!

This Fire Prevention Month, the Community Risk Reduction team reminds you to charge your devices on a hard, flat surface. Soft surfaces can trap heat and increase the risk of fire.

But it’s the firefighters behind it all who make it happen!

Just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, crews were dispatched to a reported house fire on Moreno Avenue.

When crews arrived, they could see a column of smoke coming from the home. Within minutes, water was on the fire.

Crews also located and rescued a dog inside the home, who was safely reunited with its family.

The fire was out shortly after 9:30 a.m., and no injuries were reported.
