No fishing gear? No problem! Equipment will be provided.

This Saturday, April 25 for our Earth Day clean up! We will meet at the Little River Canyon Center at 10:00 am and go clean up the Little River Falls parking lot, picnic area, and trail area. Bring a water bottle, wear sturdy footwear, and snacks if needed. All ages welcome! All supplies will be provided! Come be a volunteer for a few hours and help us beautify the park!

We are hiring two seasonal maintenance workers at Little River Canyon National Preserve.
This position is a WG 5 in Fort Payne, AL.
Applications will be open from March 30, 2026-April 13, 2026, or once 100 applications are received.
Salary $22.09-$27.36 an hour

Here are some of the duties as a maintenance worker:
Performs minor carpentry repairs of limited difficulty to buildings.
Performs routine maintenance at different sites and visitor facilities, trails, to include cleaning restrooms, and making minor repairs as needed.

Cherokee County-Alabama Extension & DeKalb County are challenging YOU to get active and explore the outdoors! Head out to the Path to Learning Trail behind the Little River Canyon Center and join in the fun now through April 10th!

โ€ข There are 12 hidden eggs along the trail
โ€ข Each egg features a fun Move Alabama activity challenge
โ€ข Complete them as you go and enjoy the journey!

Please join us in welcoming T.C. McLemore as the new Director of Jacksonville State University's Little River Canyon Center! A Fort Payne native, T.C. brings a deep love for the Canyon, a strong background in environmental education and outdoor recreation, and a passion for connecting conservation with community and economic growth. Weโ€™re excited to see him build on the incredible legacy of founding director Pete Conroy while helping even more people discover and appreciate one of Alabamaโ€™s most beautiful places. Welcome home, T.C.!
