Members of Dogtown Fire Dept will be participating in a training exercise tomorrow morning hosted by Leesburg Volunteer Fire Department. This training will feature a live burn exercise and is a wonderful opportunity for our members. We appreciate the invite to participate and look forward to the experience.

Dogtown Fire Dept has another reason to celebrate! We have recently welcomed our newest member, Little Miss Peggy Ann Battles, granddaughter of Asst Chief Jeffery and Tasha Wagner, and daughter of Member Jireh Wagner and Brody Battles. Sweet Peggy Ann was born June 25 at 1:37pm weighing 8lbs 3oz and measured 22in. Baby and Momma are healthy and happy!

On behalf of all the members of Dogtown Fire, we would like to thank everyone for the comments and congratulations regarding the 49th Annual AAVFD State Conference. We are humbled by the support we have received. Several news/media outlets have shared our photos and shown support to our department and members and we are so very appreciative. The firefighter competition is something we look forward to each year and we enjoy the camaraderie and competition. We appreciate Joey and Sandy Boyd for always doing such an outstanding job coordinating the competition events and the AAVFD for providing the opportunity to come together and enjoy a weekend of fun, training, and fellowship with our extended fire family. We can’t wait for next year!

This past weekend members from Dogtown Fire traveled to Colbert County to attend and compete in the 49th Annual Alabama Association of Volunteer Fire Departments Conference and Firefighter Competition.

First and foremost I want to say I’m very proud of this group from Dogtown Fire all the hard work and time spent making our teams the best.

We put 2 teams in this year to get new members some experience in how the competition works. Seven teams total competed this year from all across Alabama.
Elkmont, Nitrate City, Billingley, Seven Hill, New Bethel, Dogtown team 1, and Dogtown team 2. Each team done an outstanding job, great competition and sportsmanship.

In the end Dogtown team 1 came home with 1st place in each event and 1st place overall. Elkmont has issued fair warning they are gunning for the top spot next year and Seven Hill is right behind them it should be a great competition for the 50th anniversary.

Again Thank You to all of you from Dogtown for everything you do.

Multi department water shuttle training this evening. Teaching some new people and refreshing some seasoned ones at the same time. Dogtown, Collinsville, Adamsburg, and Tuckers Chapel Fire Departments will be working through a 3 part class learning new ways to move more water when needed in areas that don’t have fire hydrant coverage.

💚🍪 Kindness goes a long way! 🍪💚

Local Girl Scouts Troop 10053 spent part of their Sunday giving back to community heroes by visiting the Dogtown Fire Dept with handmade thank-you cards and delicious Girl Scout cookies as part of a special community awareness project.

But their mission of kindness did not stop there — the troop also delivered cards and cookies to the Fort Payne Police Department and the hardworking custodial staff at DeKalb Regional Hospital to show appreciation for all they do behind the scenes.

These young ladies are proving that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our communities. ❤️🚒👮‍♂️🏥
