Today, Officer 800, Kenny Nelson, gave his final 10-7 after 23 years of dedicated service to the City of Fort Pierce.

Kenny, thank you for the compassion, commitment, and care you brought to every call and every animal in need. You’ve made a lasting difference in this community and set an example that will stay with all of us. As you begin this next chapter, know that we’ll take it from here and continue keeping the animals in our community safe and cared for.

Your watch is complete, Officer 800. Wishing you a happy and well-deserved retirement—you’ll be missed! 💙🐾

🚨 MISSING DOG — PLEASE SHARE! 🚨

Our sweet Mia Papaya is missing! She has only been in her new home for about a week. During the storms, she became frightened and took off running near Bayshore Elementary School.

Mia Papaya is the sweetest girl in the world, but she is most likely extremely scared right now. Please do not chase her or approach her suddenly. If you see her, keep her in sight from a safe distance and immediately:

📞 Call 911 and ask for Animal Control
📞 Call the Fort Pierce Animal Adoption Center at 772-242-1662
📞 Contact her owner directly, if possible

Please provide her exact location, the direction she is traveling, and the time she was seen.

💛 A Heartfelt Thank You to Continental Shooting Range! 💛

We would like to recognize and thank Continental Shooting Range for its continued generosity and support of the Fort Pierce Animal Adoption Center and the animals in our care.

Their recent donation included an incredible amount of food for our amazing animals! Over the years, they have provided numerous donations and have also organized an annual blanket drive to help keep our shelter pets warm and comfortable.

Continental Shooting Range continues to show up for our animals, and their kindness truly makes a difference. We are incredibly grateful for their ongoing partnership and commitment to helping animals in need.

🐾 Happy Tails are our favorite! ❤️

Nothing makes us happier than seeing our shelter animals leave with loving families! These beautiful adoption moments are why we do what we do.

One of our favorite things is when a former shelter baby returns with Mom and Dad to help welcome a new sibling into the family. Seeing our alumni happy, loved, and helping another animal find a forever home makes our hearts so full!

Congratulations to all of our newly adopted pets and their wonderful families! 🏡🐶🐱💕

💕 MEET MIA PAPYA — LOOKING FOR AN ADOPTER 💕

Mia Papya is approximately 5-6 years old and truly one of the best dogs ever.

When Animal Control first picked her up, she was suffering from a miscarriage and was very sad after losing her puppies. The Adoption Center staff set her up in an office up front so she could receive plenty of love and attention while staying close to her favorite Animal Control officer—the very officer who picked her up.

With lots of comfort and affection, Mia’s beautiful personality began to shine. She loves people, children and other animals. She is incredibly sweet, gentle and deserving of a family who will love her forever.

Now it is Mia’s turn for a happy ending. Please share her story and help us find the special adopter she has been waiting for! 🐾❤️
