EMPLOYEE ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY STEALING MORE THAN $60,000 FROM LOCAL BUSINESS

An investigation conducted by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office has resulted in the arrest of a Fort Pierce woman accused of stealing more than $60,000 from her employer over a period of several months.

On June 3, 2026, Patrol Operations Bureau deputies responded to Happy Days Bingo, located at 8441 South U.S. Highway 1, regarding a theft investigation. A representative of the business reported that an employee, identified as Amber Nicole Brunt, 38, had allegedly been taking cash from the business during her work shifts.

During an internal review, business management identified approximately $9,200 in documented thefts spanning ten of Brunt's shifts. Further examination of financial records, documented cash shortages, and other evidence revealed an estimated loss of approximately $60,000 over a twelve-month period.

Due to the scope and complexity of the investigation, the case was assigned to the
SLCSO Criminal Investigations Division.

After conducting a comprehensive investigation, Detective Corporal Redler established probable cause that Brunt had committed the alleged offenses. On June 5, 2026, Detective Corporal Redler made contact with Brunt and placed her under arrest. She was charged with Grand Theft ($20,000 or More but Less Than $100,000) and Grand Theft ($750 to Less Than $5,000).

Brunt was transported to and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail, where she remains incarcerated at the time of this writing.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

HAPPENING TODAY AT NOON!

St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant Quarterly Siren Test

St. Lucie County’s Public Safety Department, Martin County Emergency Management Agency, and Florida Power & Light Company will conduct a quarterly testing of the outdoor warning sirens for the St. Lucie nuclear power plant.

The test will involve a one-minute sounding of all 91 sirens within the 10-mile St. Lucie plant emergency planning zone. Before and after the sirens sound, a message will be broadcast on the sirens' public-address system stating, "This is only a test."

FPL and St. Lucie and Martin counties regularly test the siren system to improve public awareness of its function and ensure its operability.
In the unlikely event of an actual emergency at the St. Lucie plant, the sirens would sound for at least a five-minute period. Official instructions or information would follow on local radio and television.

For more information on St. Lucie’s Nuclear Power Plant emergency plan, please visit the following web site: https://www.stlucieco.gov/departments-and-services/public-safety/radiological-information.

A look back in time in St. Lucie County, this archived photograph highlights a major investigation that concluded successfully after nearly a year of dedicated police work. The case involved the recovery of a stolen fi****ms arsenal taken from a local gun shop in 1964, ultimately leading to arrests and charges in connection with the break-in.
