Hurricane season begins Monday, and for many families in St. Lucie County, storms bring more than wind and rain — they bring uncertainty about food, finances, housing, and stability.

At Mustard Seed, we know that even a short-term emergency can quickly become a crisis for households already struggling to make ends meet.

Through our food pantry programs in Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie, along with hot meals through our Sarah’s Kitchens locations, we remain committed to helping individuals and families throughout our community when they need support most.

As we enter hurricane season, we encourage everyone to begin preparing by reviewing the information on St. Lucie County's Emergency Management webpage: https://www.stlucieco.gov/departments-and-services/public-safety/emergency-readiness-portal

A huge thank you to Sam’s Club and Walmart for helping us feed local families through the Walmart Spark Good Local Grant program!

Mustard Seed recently received a total of $4,000 in grants that will help provide 1,332 meals to neighbors facing food insecurity throughout St. Lucie County.

We’re especially grateful for the support from:

📍 Walmart Port St Lucie - S US Hwy 1 — 10855 South U.S. Highway 1, Port St. Lucie
📍 Sam's Club -- 1750 S.W. Gatlin Blvd., Port St. Lucie
📍 Sam's Club — 10900 South U.S. Highway 1, Port St. Lucie
📍 Walmart Distribution Center — South Jenkins Road, Fort Pierce

These grants are more than financial support — they’re a reminder that life gets a little better when people and organizations come together to care for their neighbors in need.

We’re grateful for partners who believe every family deserves food on the table and an opportunity to share a nutritious meal together.

WOW. What a day we had Saturday! 📬

Thanks to the incredible generosity of your community and the National Association of Letter Carriers, the shelves at Mustard Seed are a lot fuller this week.

Thank you to everyone who left bags of food by their mailboxes for the Food Drive. Every can, box, and bag will help feed local families throughout St. Lucie County.

And a HUGE shout-out to our amazing US Postal Service teams and hardworking letter carriers, who spent the day collecting mountains of food and delivering it with smiles, heart, and plenty of heavy lifting. 🚚📦💪

You are true Hunger Heroes.

We’ve been serving our community since 1986, and days like Saturday remind us just how caring this community really is.

And if you’d like to continue helping us feed families throughout St. Lucie County, visit us at www.mustardseedslc.org and click “Make a Donation” at the top of the page.

Thank you for helping us help others.

Today's the day!

Just fill a bag with non-perishable food items, leave it by your mailbox today (Saturday), and your letter carrier will do the rest!

We’ll pick up the donations from the Post Office and make sure they reach neighbors right here in our community who need them most.

Thanks for all your support!

A very big thank you to the City of Port St. Lucie - City Hall Neighborhood Services Department for taking the time to visit with us today and learn about the work happening at Mustard Seed Ministries.

We had a great conversation about the challenges many local families are facing right now and the importance of strong community partnerships in helping meet those needs.

It’s always encouraging to spend time with people who care about making a difference and strengthening our community. Working together, we can bring more help, hope and support to your neighbors who need it most.
