This evening Fort Pierre Fire Department held their annual election of officers. Congratulations to all of the new incoming officers for 2026.

New officers will take over on Janurary 1st.

Huge shout out to Burger King in Pierre! They just donated 30 cheeseburgers and french fries for the guys of the Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department who have been out all afternoon working a hay bale fire!

..RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM CDT /NOON MDT/
THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM CDT /7 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND
LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTH CENTRAL SOUTH DAKOTA...

* WINDS...South 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that ignite will spread rapidly and become difficult to control or suppress.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

Come down tomorrow night to the Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department hall (Saturday 27th) and enjoy the Fireman’s ball with The Dirty Boot Band. 8 pm to Midnight.

Hey all! We are back and ready to support our Firemen. Come join us tomorrow night in Fort Pierre and raise a glass for the men who sacrifice so much for us each day.

Last year truly was a blast, we can’t wait to be back!

The FLOOD WARNING for Stanley County has been extended to 4 pm Friday afternoon and now also includes northern Jones County. More of Stanley County has been included in the FLOOD WARNING.
..FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CDT /3 PM MDT/ FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...A portion of central South Dakota, including the following counties, Jones and Stanley.

* WHEN...Until 400 PM CDT /300 PM MDT/ Friday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Expect many
areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1035 AM CDT /935 AM MDT/, emergency management reported flooding in the warned area. Namely, Bad River Road has water over it in multiple locations, and water has been reported on
US Highway 14/South Dakota Highway 34. Between 2 and 4 inches
of rain have fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pierre, Fort Pierre, Wendte, Van Metre, Hayes, Chantier Creek
Recreation Area, Brown Church, Capa, Sansarc, Bunker, Mission
Ridge, Lake Sharpe and southern Lake Oahe.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
