Citizens for Consistency, What we're about:
Quality of Life – We believe in the untapped potential of the Village of Fort Plain, and that it should be promoted as a great place to live and raise a family; with excellent schools, beautiful historic homes and quick access to the great outdoors all within an hour of the Capital District. We will assure the Village has usable, properly maintained sid
ewalks and streets, regular street cleaning, active recycling to keep landfill costs down, and see to the restoration of the annual village-wide junk day. Promotion – We will partner with existing businesses to be sure they have what they need to grow, thrive and create much–needed jobs. We will also work with neighboring communities to promote and support local businesses to spur broad-based economic stability. Beautification – We will work with the Town, County and State to address the problem of blighted and condemned buildings in a cost–effective way; making our village safer and more attractive. Cost Savings – We believe there are considerable savings to be had in consolidating services with the Town of Minden and other neighboring Villages & Towns to reduce costs for taxpayers and plan to vigorously explore them. Fair & Consistent Enforcement – We believe in fairness in enforcement of codes and other rules, where everyone is treated equally, but are also expected to do our part to make Fort Plain a place we all want to live. Choice – We believe in hearing all voices, welcoming new ideas and in encouraging a healthy, broad–based dialog about the future of Fort Plain. Transparency – Openness, accountability, and honesty define government transparency. In a free society, transparency is government's obligation to share information with citizens. It is at the heart of how citizens hold their public officials accountable. Village business such as financial statements, meeting minutes, committee & department reports, etc. will be posted on the Village website along with items such as building permits and documentation of the process that you will go through prior to improvements or repair.
