24-month retirement window extension!

The U.S. Army began a pilot program in 2023 allowing active-duty and Active Guard Reserve Soldiers to request retirement 24 months before their retirement date. This program was extended again in May and will expire at the end of FY25 on September 30th. Requests for retirement must be submitted in Integrated Personnel and Pay System - Army (IPPS-A) using an Administrative Correction PAR. Retirement PAR checklists are found in the personnel action guide (PAG). Retirement PARs for all ranks are routed through the chain of command to HRC for review and processing.

See MILPER 25-181 for additional information!

Go Army, Stay Army.

Continuation pay, another reason to stay in the U.S. Army.

✅Soldiers under the blended retirement system with between 8-12 years of service* are eligible for continuation pay, which is like a bonus to continue serving.

✅For active-duty Soldiers, it's a direct cash payout that's 2.5 times their monthly base pay (see graphic below for an example).

✅Accepting the payout does NOT impact eligibility for other reenlistment bonuses, retention bonuses, or special pays.

*Time in service requirement subject to change. Talk to your unit career counselor or S-1 for the latest and see more info here: https://myarmybenefits.us.army.mil/Benefit-Library/Federal-Benefits/Continuation-Pay?serv=125
