Chief Warrant Officer Five Mitchell C. Brown was born in Eastland, Texas, in August 1972. He entered the Army from Plano, Texas, in July 1992. CW5 Brown attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, followed by Advanced Individual Training as a Multi-Channel System Operator at Fort Gordon, Georgia. His military education includes the Primary Leadership Developmen

t Course, Warrant Officer Candidate School, Warrant Officer Basic Course, Warrant Officer Advanced Course, Warrant Office Staff Course, and Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course. His civilian education includes an associate’s degree in applied science technical studies from Excelsior College. CW5 Brown’s Awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2nd award), Meritorious Service Medal (4rd award), Army Commendation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (11th award), Army Good Conduct Medal (2 Knots), National Defense Service Medal (Campaign Star), Southwest Asia Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. CW5 Brown is currently assigned as the sixth Chief Warrant Officer of the Air Defense Artillery Branch (CWOB). He has been married 28 years to the former Samantha Stephens of Plano, Texas. Fort Sill will delay opening until 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, due to winter weather.

As the year draws to a close, and we prepare to head into the holiday season, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey the branch has had over the past year. This year has been filled with both challenges and triumphs, but what has stood out most to me is the unwavering dedication, passion, and collaboration each of you brings to our Branch.

The successes we’ve achieved this year are a direct result of the hard work, innovation, and teamwork that each of you embodies. Whether we’ve faced difficult obstacles, supported each other during demanding times, or celebrated milestones, your commitment to our mission has been the cornerstone of our progress. I am truly grateful for the energy and enthusiasm you bring to the Branch, and I feel privileged to work alongside such talented individuals.

As we enter the holiday season, I hope you all take time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the company of loved ones. This is a wonderful time to reflect on our collective accomplishments and also to look forward to the opportunities and challenges that await us in the coming year.

Yesterday, Col. Bruce Bredlow, Assistant Commandant of the Air Defense Artillery was the keynote speaker and host at the US Army Fort Sill Instructor of the Year Ceremony.

Eight competitors were recognized for their outstanding instructor and curriculum development within their perspective areas at the Fires Center of Excellence and the Marine Corps School of Artillery.

Congratulations to you all on your accomplishments and for withstanding the rigorous process and enduring to the end!
