Three strategies for building your in-the-moment resilience:
1. Calm the mind. Pay attention to what's really going on around you.
2. Look out the window. Don't just sit with your emotions.
3. Make a point to be compassionate to others.

Dog Face Soldiers and our Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Communities.

With our ever changing environment it is important to remember that we as a Division, and as an Army, remain ready to answer our Nation's call. We want to assure you that our number one priority is to ensure the health and welfare of our Soldiers, our Families and our Community. We are, and will continue to remain, ready.

You may have recently heard that out of an abundance of caution our leadership has made decisions to scale back exercises, delay the travel of Soldiers stationed in areas that been identified by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention as having the highest risk for COVID-19 transmission and have delayed the Permanent Change of Station moves for Families and Soldiers into and out of these areas.

While there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Installations or surrounding areas, we are working hard to maintain that posture while minimizing the impact to you and our Community. We take the threat seriously and will, over the coming days, exercise prudent and cautious measures where we can to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. Again, out of an abundance of caution, I have elevated our local Health Protection Measures on both installations. You will begin to see this in the postponing of events and procedural changes in places where individuals gather. As we continue to monitor the situation and take prudent measures to mitigate our risk, we will ensure that your leadership and the community are informed. However our hospital, our pharmacies and our great service services remain open for our Community.

As many of you are aware, we have Soldiers deployed and executing missions all over the world. Having talked to every Commander, I can assure that in every location these same prudent steps are being taken to protect our Soldiers and procedures are in place to care for their health in their current environments. I have the utmost confidence in them. Many of you may have already heard, or seen in the news, a decision has been made to modify the ongoing Defender-Europe 20 exercise. This decision was made after a careful review and in direct coordination with our Allied partners and takes into account the health and welfare of all personnel involved. However, our Soldiers that are forward will continue to execute their mission. We understand that many of you have Soldiers and Family members deployed in support of this exercise and are anxiously awaiting news of what will happen next. Please be assured that we are diligently working with our higher headquarters and Allied partners to assess the impacts and we will do our best to keep you informed.

I encourage all of you to take the necessary precautions to protect yourselves and your families. The best way to limit the spread of this disease is to stay informed, practice good habits to ensure your health, including washing your hands often with soap and water, avoiding close contact with others if they are sick and avoiding areas of large gatherings. If you are feeling sick, it is very important that you do not go straight to the hospital; please call the TRICARE Nurse at 1-800-874-2273, Option 1, and they will answer your questions and provide direction on what to do next. This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

CSM Coffey and I will host a virtual town hall at 1800 on the 19th of March on our Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield page. We will have members of our medical community, garrison leadership, as well as BDE and Division leadership, in attendance. It is important to stay informed and I encourage you to log in, listen to the information and ask your questions. As always, continue to check the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield official webpage, which has a tab dedicated to informing you about COVID-19, and don't forget that you can follow this page for all the latest information.

While we may have a tough road ahead of us, I am confident that we will prevail together as a Division, as a family and as a Community. Thanks for your service and what you do every day. It is an honor to be a Dog Face Soldier, serving alongside each and every one of you.

Sharing from the 3rd ID Commanding General. Please take time to read and stay informed. #ACSRocks #FortStewart #ArmyLife #MilSpouse

It has recently been brought to my attention that there are rumors of suspected cases of COVID-19 on Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield, involving Soldiers, and I would like to take a minute to address those rumors.

Governor Kemp confirmed yesterday that there are now five cases of COVID-19 in the State of Georgia, but none of those are in our local community, or on Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield. Out of an abundance of caution, and due
to the spread of COVID-19, I have issued additional guidance to the Division and tenant units on both installations to prevent the potential spread of the virus in our community, ensure a timely and focused response to any potential outbreak, if needed, and maintain warfighter readiness.

As the Senior Mission Commander, and in direct coordination with senior medical personnel and our higher headquarters, I have made the decision to
enact Enhanced Force Health Protection Measures, and have placed four Soldiers newly arrived to Fort Stewart under observation and monitoring, supervised by Marne Reception Center cadre and screened regularly by our doctors.

All four Soldiers recently PCS'ed from high risk areas, in this case the Republic of Korea, and my decision falls in line with CDC guidance and
recommendations. None of the four Soldiers have shown any symptoms of illness, to include COVID-19, and at this time there are no indications that any Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield personnel have been infected with COVID-19.

The health and welfare of our Soldiers, Family members and civilians, as well as the local community, is paramount and our efforts are directed at detection and the prevention of the spread of this illness. The very best way to prevent the spread of this virus is to avoid other people who are sick, wash your hands often with soap and water, and if that is not an option, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

I ask that you continue to follow the CDC,
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html, for the most up to date information, as well as the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison and 3rd Infantry Division pages for information related to our local communities.

Additionally, the TRICARE Nurse Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-TRICARE, Option 1.

International Women’s Day 2020

#ACS is proud to celebrate International Women's Day on bothFort Stewart and HAAF.

This special day will be celebrated Sunday, 8 March and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women - while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality.

Equality is not a women's issue, it's a business issue. Gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive.

Command Sergeant Major Rebecca N. Myers, the Fort Stewart/HAAF Garrison CSM joined the ladies of ACS to mark this day!
