Texas farmers are planting this year’s crops. That means large equipment is moving down the road.

Please slow down. Please pay attention. Please drive with caution.

Farm equipment can’t stop as fast as a car. And tractors don’t go as fast either. You’ll catch up to them quickly.

So here are a few road safety tips to keep in mind with slow moving vehicles like farm equipment:

🔸Slow down.
🔸Pay attention.
🔸Be patient.
🔸Pass with caution.
🔸Don't assume the farmer knows you're there.

Let’s all get home safely today.

Know a Texas student who will be a high school senior next year? Have them sign up for our THRIVE program!

This learning experience is part of our Student Success Series.

Students participating in this program will develop public speaking and leadership skills, learn more about the free enterprise system and hear from engaging motivational speakers. Plus, they’ll dive deeper into digital advocacy efforts and participate in a media training.

Thrive will take place July 31 - Aug. 2 in Waco.

Registration closes July 14 and is limited to the first 150 students who sign up.

Today is . But that’s every day to farmers and ranchers who grow our food, fiber and fuel. They care for their livestock and are committed to protecting the land and natural resources.

We often boast that everything is bigger in Texas. That’s true when it comes to agriculture, too.

The state’s varied climates and soil types enable farmers to grow a wide selection of crops, including grains, fiber, timber, fruits and vegetables. Texans are especially well-known for raising cattle, but sheep, goats and poultry are major sectors of the Texas agricultural economy, as well.

Farming and ranching is a demanding profession. It’s risky, and it sure isn’t easy.

But it’s the satisfaction of a hard day’s work and of doing something for others. Fulfilling dreams. And facing the uncertainty with faith and optimism. Farmers and ranchers are the beating heart of Texas agriculture. And our future.
