🔧 WE’RE HIRING: Outside Maintenance Mechanic!

Looking for a hands-on career where no two days are exactly the same? We’re hiring an Outside Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the Big Bend Project!

This position tackles a wide variety of work, including:
🔹 Installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing systems, including toilets, sinks, drinking fountains, hydrants, valves, faucets, waterlines, water heaters, irrigation systems, sewer lines, pumps and more
🔹 Operating mobile cranes and boom trucks up to 50-ton capacity
🔹 Constructing wooden forms for concrete work
🔹 Using electric and gas welding equipment to fabricate and repair equipment
🔹 Performing landscaping and grounds maintenance
🔹 Operating and maintaining heavy engineering and construction equipment
🔹 Operating and maintaining gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles
🔹 Operating motorboats up to 26 feet in length

Looking for a new opportunity? We’re seeking someone to join our team and help keep the day-to-day operations at Big Bend Project running smoothly!

Some of the responsibilities of this position include:

Purchasing & Procurement
• Purchase supplies, materials, equipment, parts, repair services, testing services and on-site repairs needed for the operation and maintenance of a multipurpose project
• Serve as a government purchase cardholder and ensure purchases comply with procurement regulations, policies and laws
• Ensure purchases remain within delegated purchasing limits

Office & Administrative Support
• Maintain and purchase office supplies requested by project staff
• Complete accounts payable and receiving documentation
• Assist with correspondence and other clerical duties
• Enter time and attendance information
• Answer phone calls and greet visitors

It is with great sadness that the Big Bend Project has learned of the passing of former purchasing technician Wanda Parent.

Wanda began working for the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Big Bend Project in 1984 as a clerk-typist. Throughout her time at the project, Wanda built meaningful working relationships and lasting friendships, leaving an impression that will not soon be forgotten.

Wanda retired as a purchasing technician for the Big Bend Project in 2011.

The staff at Big Bend send our condolences to the Parent family during their time of loss.
