North Dakota is seeing Extreme fire danger across much of the state today, with multiple areas under burn restrictions and portions of eastern/southeastern ND under a Red Flag Warning.

Please avoid any outdoor burning, use caution with equipment, chains, ci******es, and anything that can create sparks. Conditions can change fast, and one small ignition can turn into a large fire.

🚨 RED FLAG WARNING – EXTREME FIRE DANGER!

A Red Flag Warning is in effect today, May 3rd from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM across much of North Dakota.

🔥 Conditions:
• Strong winds
• Low relative humidity
• Extremely dry fuels

🔥 Fire Danger:
Most of the state is at VERY HIGH to EXTREME fire danger levels.

⚠️ What this means:
Any fire that starts can spread rapidly and become uncontrollable.

🚫 No open burning today
🚫 Avoid activities that create sparks (burn barrels, debris burning, etc.)
🚫 Use caution with equipment, chains, trailers, and anything that could ignite dry grass

• Report fires immediately
• Stay alert and aware of your surroundings

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning until 8 PM for our area.

🌬️ What to expect:
* Strong south to southwest winds (20–25 mph, higher gusts)
* Low humidity (around 20–30%)
* Warm temps in the 60s

These conditions create critical fire danger — fires can start easily and spread fast.

🚫 Please avoid:
* Burning trash or brush
* Using burn barrels
* Parking in tall grass
* Anything that could spark a fire

👨‍🚒 Our crews are ready, but we need the community’s help to prevent unnecessary fires.

Stay alert and report any smoke or fire immediately.

Road conditions today are extremely dangerous due to near-zero visibility. Whiteout conditions can develop suddenly and leave drivers with no time to react.

If conditions like this stay consistent, please stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. No errand or appointment is worth the risk of serious injury or worse.

Poor visibility, drifting snow, and slick roads make travel unpredictable and dangerous for everyone.
