This past Thursday, our club had the honor of welcoming Robert Campbell from the Fisher House of the Emerald Coast, who delivered an inspiring presentation on their mission of supporting military families during medical challenges. Fisher House provides free lodging, comfort, and community for families whose loved ones are receiving care at Eglin Air Force Base — ensuring no one faces hardship alone.

Robert shared powerful stories about how Fisher House offers:
- A home‑away‑from‑home for families during medical treatment
- A warm, supportive environment that eases stress and strengthens resilience
- Year‑round programs that uplift military members, veterans, and their loved ones

His passion for service and compassion reminded us why Fisher House remains one of the most impactful support organizations in our region.

And speaking of impact — we’re thrilled that Sara and Mike Michaelson are leading our club’s Cookies for Kindness effort, delivering homemade cookies each week to Fisher House families. Their dedication adds a personal touch of comfort and joy to those staying there, and it beautifully reflects the heart of our club.

🍪💙 If you’d like to join in by baking a few dozen cookies, we’d love to include you. Just reach out — a volunteer can pick them up and deliver them on Wednesdays.

Together, we lift up our military families, strengthen our community, and spread kindness one cookie at a time.

The Exchange Club of Emerald Coast welcomed Coach Chris Torres, Head Coach of Pryor Middle School, as our special guest. Coach Torres shared the real‑world challenges of leading a program in a Title I school, where limited resources often stand in the way of student success. Despite these obstacles, he is driven by a simple but powerful philosophy: “If we believe we can, then we will.”

In his first year as head coach, Coach Torres has been blazing a path for success by instilling a culture of accountability, respect, and personal growth — both on and off the field. He described how shifting the mindset of young athletes is just as important as teaching plays or running drills. His focus is on building young men who carry confidence, discipline, and character into every part of their lives.

Coach Torres also outlined the program’s critical fundraising needs, which directly support the players and elevate the pride they feel in representing Pryor Middle School. Funds will help cover:

- New helmet decals — a first‑ever upgrade for the team
- Repairing aging equipment
- Transportation for four away games
- Pregame meals to ensure players are fueled and ready
- Essential player garments
- An end‑of‑year banquet celebrating their hard work and growth

His passion for these students and his commitment to changing the culture at Pryor Middle School reflect the very mission our Club stands for — strengthening community, building character, and supporting youth.

Exchange Club of Emerald Coast placed a $500 sponsorship and we ask you or your company to consider supporting this great cause.

🇺🇸 Exchange Club of the Emerald Coast Hosts ARC of the Emerald Coast at July 23 Meeting

The Exchange Club of the Emerald Coast was honored to welcome Ms. Yvette Beam from the ARC of the Emerald Coast at our 23 July regular meeting. Ms. Beam delivered a compelling and comprehensive overview of ARC’s mission: supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through lifelong care, advocacy, and community inclusion.

ARC operates multiple programs across Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton Counties — including residential homes, early intervention services, employment support, and community engagement programs — all designed to help clients live with dignity, independence, and opportunity.

Ms. Beam emphasized that community support is essential to sustaining and expanding these services. She outlined several meaningful ways our members — and the broader Emerald Coast community — can get involved:

- Volunteer for construction support as ARC builds its new Adult Day Training (ADT) facility, which will provide skill‑building, social development, and daily enrichment for adults with disabilities.
- Sponsor “Safari” Advocacy Days, a unique program that empowers individuals with disabilities to engage with the community, practice self‑advocacy, and experience inclusive activities.
- Provide direct financial support, which helps ARC maintain residential homes, expand therapy programs, and fund essential care for families who rely on their services.
- Engage with ARC’s mission year‑round through awareness, partnerships, and hands‑on service.
