AIHS is honored to partner with the VA Health System on the Veteran-Directed Care Program, which empowers Veterans to direct their own long-term care services.

Veterans can remain in their homes and communities for as long as thanks to a program-provided budget to purchase goods and services they need to support their independence. This includes the ability to hire, train and supervise their own caregivers.

Below is a comment from a U.S. Army Vet who is currently enrolled in the program. If you would like to learn more and see if you qualify, please visit our website, link in the comments below.

Over the past three weeks, AIHS has embraced the opportunity to meet and greet current and prospective Case Management clients across the state.

During these events, we have heard many of the same questions and concerns:
- Do your Case Managers respond quickly?
- Do they know local resources?
- Does your organization serve people with disabilities in addition to older adults?

The answer to each of these questions is YES!

Visit our website to learn more about what makes AIHS the number one choice to be your new Aging & Disability Case Management provider. Link in the comments below.

Many times, scammers calling just need you to agree to their "free" products or services so they can bill Medicare. Don't say "Yes" to any yes/no questions, even unrelated ones like ""Can you hear me?"" Respond with ""I can"" or better yet, just hang up. And remember, if you need health care products like braces, talk to your doctor, not an unsolicited caller.

If you have received unwanted braces or gave out your Medicare number, contact the at 877-808-2468 or email [email protected].

May is Older Americans Month!

The 2026 theme is Champion Your Health, which OAA nutrition programs bring to life every day, providing not just healthy meals, but also regular wellness checks, social connection and access to supportive services that help older adults stay independent and thrive in their communities.

AIHS offers Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) classes, which coincide with this year's theme. The most recent classes were led by Nutrition Program Supervisor Felicia Say, MPH, who reports participants retained the information and acknowledged lifestyle changes for better health and quality of life.

One participant shared: "The class had a significant positive impact on me, and I believe my journey can inspire others to enroll as well."
