We love seeing our community out and active, and e-bikes are a fantastic way to explore everything Allen County has to offer!
🚲
But...as they've grown in popularity, so have the problems.
🚲
The calls are coming in, and the common thread is the same...e-bikes being ridden illegally, recklessly(𝙬𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙨), and/or in the wrong places.
🚲..Some of these situations have been serious and could have resulted in life-ending consequences.
🚲
Not all e-bikes are created equal, and not all of them are even legally e-bikes. That means registration, insurance, and a license endorsement are required to operate it legally.
🚲
We're not here to put the brakes on your summer fun...and before anyone says it, no, we are not the fun police. 😄 We truly just want everyone to make it home safely at the end of the day. Seriously.
🚲
A few minutes spent learning the rules is a lot better than the alternative. Take a few minutes to understand the rules, know what class your bike is, and ride in the right places.

The Allen County Highway Department informs motorists of a changing traffic pattern on the west side of the county. Beginning June 3, 2026, Washington Center Road will stop for O'Day Road, turning the intersection into an All-Way Stop.

Remember, “first to arrive, first to go” means the vehicle that arrives and stops first at the intersection has the right-of-way. Always yield to pedestrians.
