Join us at the Warsaw Performing Arts center, for a moving and inspiring story of survival as Dr. Irene Miller, a Holocaust survivor, author, speaker, and educator, takes you on a journey through a little-known aspect of survival.

You will sleep in the winter under an open sky on no man’s land; you will freeze in a Siberian labor camp where the bears come to your door front. In Uzbekistan, you will live on boiled grass or broiled onions and shiver with malaria. You will spend years in orphanages.

When this is over, you will wonder how a child with this background grows up to become a positive, creative, accomplished woman with a joy of living and love to share. It is a story of courage, determination, perseverance, and the power of the human spirit.

After her presentation, Irene will lead an open discussion and offer signed copies of her book, Into No Man's Land: A Historical Memoir. This event is free and suitable for all ages. It is sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Fort Wayne, the Warsaw Performing Arts Center, and the Jewish Federation of Saint Joseph Valley, whose generous support makes it possible.

This Shabbat, we remember Anne Frank who was born on this day in 1929. She was just 15 when she was murdered in the Holocaust. Her diary remains one of the most powerful accounts of what Jewish families endured and has helped generations understand the loss of six million Jewish lives.

Today, and every day, honor her memory by providing Holocaust survivors with the dignity and care they deserve. Shabbat Shalom.

Visit Warsaw Community Library between June 20 and July 24 for Americans and the Holocaust, a traveling exhibition that examines Americans’ responses to Na**sm, war, and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s.

What did Americans know, and what more could have been done?

The exhibition – from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association – also presents stories of individual Americans, some of whom took actions that went against the grain at the time, daring to rescue Jews from Europe.

Open during regular library hours - This exhibit is free and suitable for all ages.
