Southwest Allen County Schools

Southwest Allen County Schools Southwest Allen County Schools is dedicated to a mission of preparing today’s learners for tomorrow’s opportunities.

Nationally recognized and locally known for its award-wining programs, high-quality staff, and strong parental and community support, Southwest Allen County Schools is home to more than 7,000 students in grades K-12. Our district includes six elementary schools (Aboite, Covington, Deer Ridge, Haverhill, Lafayette Meadows and Whispering Meadows), two middle schools (Summit and Woodside), and Homest

ead High School. Our vision and our commitment to staff, students, and community is to provide an excellent 21st century education. We believe parents are the first and essential teachers of their children. We believe that SACS is the hub of a diverse community that serves as: professional educators, providing consultation and partnership with SACS parents; more experienced co-learners, providing wisdom and guidance for our students; and an educational workplace of choice, providing support and opportunities for our employees. We believe a culture of learning embraces change, flexibility, and innovation. We believe learners will experience the joy of learning and working in a safe and secure educational environment. We believe learning is neither bound by place nor time and must be appropriate and accessible to all learners. Our graduates think critically and think creatively. They effectively communicate their ideas and effectively collaborate with others. They are responsible citizens and digitally literate. Our graduates are resilient problem solvers and compete globally. Follow us on Facebook for district information, school and student news, and . ✋ HIGH FIVE, COYOTES! 🐾
Covington kicked off a fun new tradition this morning — "Hi" Five Friday!

On random Fridays throughout the year, students may be greeted with a little extra school spirit, lots of smiles and, of course, plenty of high fives as they arrive at school.
It’s a simple way to start the day with some positive energy and remind our kiddos just how happy we are to see them!

Judging by the smiles this morning, we’re not quite sure who enjoyed it more — our students or the adults!

What a great way to say, “Hi, Coyotes! We’re glad you’re here!” 🐾✋

Sometimes, the best surprises are the ones that confirm what we already know.

BIG NEWS! Jason Witzigreuter has been named one of the Top 3 finalists for Indiana Teacher of the Year! 🎉🍎

And while being named a Top 3 finalist is an extraordinary achievement, those of us who know Jason know this recognition is about so much more than an award.

It’s about the educator he is.
It’s about the difference he makes for students.
It’s about the passion, dedication and heart he brings to his classroom every day.
And it’s about the person he is to his students, colleagues and our entire SACS community.

Being recognized among the Top 3 teachers in the entire state of Indiana is pretty amazing, and it says so much about the impact Jason has made as an educator.

Congratulations, Jason!
Now, we wait…
Indiana will announce the 2027 Indiana Teacher of the Year soon,

Flex Day = Growth Day! 🧠💪

Today is a Flex Day across SACS—a day for our staff to flex their minds, learn, collaborate and grow so they can be their very best for our students!

From professional learning and sharing ideas to collaborating with colleagues and exploring new strategies, our educators are investing in themselves—and ultimately, in our students.

Because when our staff grow, our students grow. ❤️💙

What a Night! 🎉
What a great evening last night at Whispering Meadows Elementary’s Back-to-School Bash! 💙❤️

Hundreds of students, families, staff and community members came together to celebrate the start of a new school year—and there was plenty of fun to go around!

From delicious food and sweet treats to games, dance parties, activities and the inaugural Kids vs. Teachers Kickball Game, it was an evening filled with laughter, connection and Maverick spirit.

Most of all, it was wonderful to see our school community together, welcoming a new school year with so much energy and excitement.

A huge thank-you to the WMES staff, volunteers and community partners who helped make the evening such a success. Events like this don’t happen without a lot of teamwork and heart!

🌱👩‍🍳 Talk about a true farm-to-table experience!

This morning, Homestead High School’s Nutrition and Culinary students brought the garden to the kitchen — harvesting fresh produce grown right here at HHS and turning it into something they could cook, share and taste.

The garden was created and nurtured by HHS French teacher Maggie Borders and built by our own students participating in the ABC Construction Youth Apprenticeship Program. Now, our Nutrition and Culinary students are harvesting the fruits and herbs of their hard work and bringing them straight to the kitchen.

From building and planting to growing, harvesting, cooking and tasting, this is hands-on learning at its best — learning you can see, smell and savor! 🌿🥕🍅

What a delicious example of hands-on learning at SACS! ❤️💙
