ident of this great city and for nearly four years, I have owned and operated two small businesses. For more than 50 years my family has lived and worked in Fort Wayne and contributed to its growth and prosperity. Even during the city’s tough economic times, we have remained loyal and steadfast to its promise. I am running because I am committed to this city, its residents and making local government work better for everyone. As a business owner, I have learned that nothing comes easy, but through hard work, dedication and collective service all things are possible. It is that “can do” attitude and entrepreneurial creativity that I would bring to my service on the Council - making Fort Wayne a better place to live, work and play for all people. The future of Fort Wayne, however, is not without its challenges. Over the years, I have seen first-hand opportunities the benefit from the city’s downtown economic revival, while the downtown continue to grow as a City Council At Large Councilwoman I want to ensure the growth happen throughout the entire city. It is the concerns of those residents uncertain about their neighborhoods, schools, and businesses that often feel as though they are on the “sidelines of success” that have captured my attention and fueled my candidacy for City Council. The greatness of our city should not be limited to the excitement and growth of downtown, but should spread like wild fire across all of Fort Wayne – for THIS is our destiny. As a campaign platform, I have chosen to focus on three fundamental themes:
• Expanding economic development opportunities in traditionally underserved communities and;
• Spur economic growth and opportunities for corporations and small business committed to hiring Fort Wayne residents, thus expanding the City’s tax base.
• Promoting policies that encourage healthy and safe neighborhoods, especially for young families and single men and women;
