** IN MEMORIAM **

The Tarrant County Law Enforcement family is saddened by the passing of our own Dionicia Lugo Gaucin.

Dee was the Office Manager for the Precinct 5 Constable's Office and served Tarrant County for years. Dee has been described by her deputies as a friend, sister, and confidant. Dee's son also works as detention officer for the Sheriff's Office.

Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to her family, friends and co-workers.

A gofundme account has been set-up in Dee's memory to help family members with funeral costs.

As we continue to mourn the loss and honor the memory of Corporal Charles Holt, we pause to remember Deputy Mark Diebold. As we've read and heard stories about Charles over the last week, one can definitely see that Charles and Mark were, "cut from the same cloth". Two faithful servants knowing the dangers of their jobs and happy to do it. [MGD 09•07•2017]

America's "ROAD TO RECOVERY FUND": COVID-19 ASSISTANCE – Officers accept the risks they take each and every day on their job. And today, during this awful coronavirus pandemic, their safety is at even greater risk. Among their daily concerns and worries, there is one unique circumstance we can help them with. If an officer suspects he/she has been exposed to COVID-19 and is fearful of infecting their family with the virus, our Recovery Fund will provide a hotel stay and meals while it is determined if he/she has the disease. Also, if an officer should need additional assistance specific to this situation, your donations to the Recovery Fund can help. DONATE:

Tarrant County Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Bill Waybourn took a few minutes to share what is happening at Tarrant County. Check out this video. We also answered a few COVID-19 questions below that have recently come in to our office.

TCSO would like to thank the community for your continued support during these challenging times.

Questions & Answers:

Q: What policies has your office implemented to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in your county jail?

A: All TCSO staff have temperature checks prior to entering the jail facilities. All prisoners also have temperature checks and are screened prior to entering the booking area. The cleaning of each building has increased in frequency daily. Hand sanitizer and soap has been made readily available to everyone, including inmates.

The protocols developed and implemented by TCSO Jail Command Staff have been adopted by the Texas Commission of Jail Standards as the State standard.

Q: Does TCSO screen or test people in jail for COVID-19 symptoms?

A: Yes. All prisoners entering Tarrant County facilities are screened prior to entry and any inmate exhibiting symptoms is tested and quarantined.

Q: What happens if there is an indication they are potentially ill with COVID-19?

A: If COVID 19 is suspected they are placed in quarantine in a zero air-flow cell and medical personnel handles treatment. The inmate remains in quarantine until cleared by medical staff and confirmed they do not have the illness. There is no relocating or moving of anyone suspected of having or infected with the illness.

Q: Does TCSO have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the jails?

A: No. We do not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in our jails. There has been a very low number of inmates that have exhibited symptoms. Those inmates have been tested, and at this time, all tests have returned negative.

TCSO will continue to post on our social media pages and communicate with our local media outlets regarding this crisis. We understand there is often confusion surrounding the illness, local and national restrictions. We’re all in this together.

*** ATTENTION FOLLOWERS IN DFW ***

Tarrant County Sheriff and Constable deputies ARE NOT conducting traffic stops to enforce any "stay-at-home" orders. Further, municipal police agencies aren't either.

You do not need to carry "essential personnel" letters with you to show deputies and officers.

During times of uncertainly, fear is present. Rumors creating false fear doesn't help our communities.

In fact, this rumor is creating unnecessary work for L.E. agencies to mount public awareness campaigns.

This time and energy can be better utilized serving citizens through this difficult time.

#inthistogether

FAKE NEWS!! Tarrant County Sheriff's Office is NOT stopping vehicles at the county line and requesting work documents or issuing citations. We are not sure where the rumor originated and we can't speak as to how other cities or counties are enforcing their orders. TCSO is not involved with any county line road blocks regarding stay-at-home orders.

One of the greatest accomplishments of Sheriff Waybourn's Administration is the creation of the Human Trafficking Unit (HTU).

Human Trafficking is an epidemic in plain sight and together we can end it.

You can financially support this Unit by visiting the Sheriff's Foundation of Tarrant County.

https://sheriffsfoundationtc.org/

Also, please consider supporting DeliverFund, an organization dedicated to ending Human Trafficking.

https://www.deliverfund.org/

The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office Human Trafficking Unit recently conducted operations as part of the National John Suppression Initiative. This annual initiative focuses on pursuing those subjects who are soliciting individuals to engage in prostitution. The initiative attempts to curtail the demand which drives human sex trafficking. The operations resulted in the arrest of 41 subjects who were charged with prostitution or other criminal offenses.

We were one of three agencies recognized nationally by the Cook County Sheriff's Office for notable arrests!

In Remembrance:

Malcolm S. Davis

Deputy Sheriff Malcolm Davis was killed around midnight by Clyde Barrow as he and other deputies were staking out a house at 3111 N. Winetka Ave. while waiting for members of the Bonnie and Clyde Gang.

Deputy Davis is buried in Grapevine Cemetery, Grapevine, Tarrant County, Texas.

The Bonnie and Clyde Gang was responsible for the murder of law enforcement officers in four states - Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas - between 1932 and 1934. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow started their criminal career by robbing banks and quickly became notorious murderers wanted for the murders of nine law enforcement officers.

The two criminals were finally shot and killed in Louisiana when they were ambushed by a task force of Texas and Louisiana officers.

Sadly, there are a couple of missing family members in this video.

Honor all the officers we lost in 2019, including those we lost to suicide. Restore respect to their families and, smash the stigma associated with seeking help. We want you all back this time next year.

We know we may not have captured all of them, we only know what we've been told, but we will honor and remember them all.

While we are only able to share some of their photos with you, please know there are over 200 families suffering this loss in 2019. We hope you will watch to the end to see your call to action; your resolution in 2020.

May all of these officers rest in peace, may we always remember their service.

TCLEA joins the Fort Worth Police Officers Association in congratulating Ed Kraus as their new Chief of Police.

Earlier this year, Interim Chief Kraus, along with his command staff, the Fort Worth Police Officers Association and countless other FWPD officers helped us through the loss of a sergeant due to a medical condition while on-duty.

Chief Kraus responded to the emergency room and immediately offered his experience, support and the full resources of the FWPD to help Sheriff Bill E Waybourn, TCSO and the TCLEA in our time of need.
From there Chief Kaus was with us every step of the way.

We wish Chief Kraus the very best and look forward to helping him in any way possible for great success.

The men and women of the Fort Worth Police Officers Association would like to congratulate our new Chief of Police, Edwin Kraus.

As we usher in this new era of leadership our top priority is making Fort Worth the safest city in the nation. We believe that Chief Kraus shares that vision and has proven his commitment to serving the citizens of Fort Worth throughout a stellar 26-year career.

We are excited to partner with Chief Kraus to provide the citizens of Fort Worth with the police department they deserve.
