On Tuesday, December 10, the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD Education Foundation honored John Craft as a Volunteer Hometown Hero for his service to EMS ISD students, teachers, and community. John was presented with an award from Dr. Chadwell as well as a $100 check to donate to a charity of his choice and a certificate from Jacob Luman with Modern Woodman Fraternal Financial. #EMSproud #EMScommUNITY Read more about Mr. Craft here https://bit.ly/36vjinB

On Tuesday, December 10, John Craft was honored as our Volunteer Hometown Hero for his service to EMS ISD students, teachers, and community. Dr. Jim Chadwell presented John with an award and our partners Jacob Luman with Modern Woodman Fraternal Financial presented John with a $100 check to donate to a charity of his choice as well as a certificate.

John worked in EMS ISD for eight years, serving two years at Boswell and six years as Wayside Middle School's principal. He followed those years with a distinguished administrative career at Northwest and Carroll ISDs. But since he and his family always lived in EMS, his volunteer work in support of EMS students never stopped. Today, John continues to serve the District in volunteer positions. Following retirement, John joined Elaine in her volunteer work at Bryson Elementary. They are both fixtures at Bryson’s annual field day. In 2005, Weldon asked John to provide leadership as the District launched the Education Foundation. He served as the first chair and continued in that position for four years. He remains a member of our board of directors, today. His service is selfless and reliable. John is also an active member of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee. Additionally, John served as Bond Chair to help EMS ISD pass two bond elections. He also served as co-chair of the most recent bond election. To further demonstrate their commitment to education, all three of their grown children are educators and their one college-aged granddaughter plans to teach.

John and Elaine have always been involved with local churches as volunteers, not simply members. They served at Lake Worth UMC (Lighthouse) and now serve at Saginaw UMC. John was instrumental in getting the beautiful stained-glass windows installed at their current location. #EMSproud #EMScommUNITY Special thanks to our partners, Jacob Luman with Modern Woodman Fraternal Financial! On Monday, 3rd Grade students in one of Mrs. Hendrix’s Reading classes at Greenfield Elementary had the opportunity to Skype with Peter Raymundo, who is the author of Third Grade Mermaid and has also worked as an animator for Walt Disney Studios. He drew films such as Mulan, Lilo and Stitch, and Tarzan. He shared his writing process and how he gets his inspiration for illustrations. They also got to see what technology he uses for his drawings. He encouraged them to put their ideas on paper and the rest will fall into place. #EMSproud

Green Light Driving Academy is excited to announce a new partnership agreement with Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. Officially set to kick off in January 2020, Green Light Driving Academy will bring it's driver education expertise and services to the parents and students of Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD.

The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD covers 73 square miles in the northwest corner of Tarrant County. District enrollment is currently over 20,000 students and serves families in Saginaw, Blue Mound, portions of the City of Fort Worth, and unincorporated Tarrant County. Students are enrolled, enriched, and educated in three high schools, with a 4th being added in 2024. The district is considered a "fast-growth" district and is the eighth fastest growing school district in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding areas. By 2023, enrollment is projected to be over 24,000 students.

Joining the Green Light staff will be EMS-ISD's current experienced staff of driving instructors and classroom educators. Green Light will continue to offer traditional teen drivers education courses on EMS-ISD's high school campuses and will be adding an authorized DPS Road Test route and several other online services for the teens and adults living in the area.

Green Light Driving Academy is excited for the new opportunities and looks forward to serving the students and parents in the Eagle Mountain - Saginaw ISD area. For more information visit www.greenlightdrivingacademy.com

Be sure to bundle up 🧤🧣for the morning bus stop. 🚸 It’s going to be another cold morning!

Freeze warning for much of North Texas tonight. Wind chills early Thursday AM will range from the teens northwest to low 20s DFW/SE. A modest warmup to 52 as sun returns Thursday. Winds die down for trick-or-treating in the evening with temps in the 40s. We'll flirt with another freeze early Friday AM, then rebound into the low 60s. A cold front brings 50s back on Saturday, followed by another warming trend into next week.
