Tarrant County Emergency Management had a great time participating in the Hand in Hand Resource Fair!

Our team had the opportunity to connect with hundreds of community members, distribute emergency preparedness information and resources, and have meaningful conversations about the importance of being prepared before disaster strikes.

Community outreach is an important part of emergency management. Events like this allow us to meet residents where they are, answer questions, share practical preparedness information, and help individuals and families better understand the steps they can take to stay safe and resilient during emergencies.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with our team, and to the organizers of the Hand in Hand Resource Fair for giving us the opportunity to engage with and serve our community.

Tarrant County Emergency Management had a great turnout for our latest Partner Engagement Meeting, hosted by the Kennedale Fire Department.

We appreciate everyone who took the time to join us, share information, strengthen relationships, and continue building connections across our emergency management community.

* At 557 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Watauga,
moving southeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage
to roofs, siding, and trees.

Wildfire smoke and reduced visibilities are being reported near the Ross Fire (located in Palo Pinto/Jack counties). Visibilities as low as 1-2 miles and poor air quality can be expected in any dense smoke. The smoke will continue to spread south/southeast through the afternoon and evening. Drive with caution, slow down, and leave extra space between you and other vehicles.

EXTREME HEAT CONTINUES ACROSS NORTH TEXAS

Dangerous heat will continue across North and Central Texas, with an Extreme Heat Warning in effect through this evening. High temperatures may reach 110°F, with heat index values ranging from 102°F to 112°F.

The hottest conditions are expected during the afternoon and early evening, particularly between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. Extreme heat can quickly become dangerous. Residents are encouraged to:

* Limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
* Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty.
* Take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
* Check on older adults, neighbors, and others who may be especially vulnerable to extreme heat.
* Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
* Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and seek immediate medical attention for anyone experiencing confusion, loss of consciousness, or other signs of a heat emergency.

Elevated Fire Weather Concerns

Hot, dry, and breezy conditions will also create an elevated risk for grass fires today. South to southwest winds near 15 mph, combined with extreme heat and dry vegetation, may allow fires to start and spread quickly. Avoid outdoor activities that could produce sparks or accidentally ignite dry grass.

Widespread triple-digit temperatures are expected to continue this week, with the hottest conditions through Tuesday. A weak front may bring some relief and a chance for showers and thunderstorms by midweek.

Please take the heat seriously, plan outdoor activities accordingly, and continue to monitor weather conditions.

🌡️ Extreme Heat Update

Dangerously hot conditions will continue across the region, with an Extreme Heat Warning for North Texas and a Heat Advisory for Central Texas. Please take these conditions seriously.

💧 Stay hydrated: Drink water often and avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks.

🌤️ Limit outdoor time: Reduce exposure during peak heat hours and take frequent breaks if you must be outside.

🏠 Stay cool: Seek air‑conditioned spaces whenever possible.

👵👧🐾 Check on vulnerable individuals: Older adults, children, pets, and those with health conditions are more at risk for heat-related illnesses.

🚗 Never leave anyone in a parked car, even for a short time.
