🐴☀️ Mustang Minute is back! ☀️🐴

This week, our K–2 Mustangs are practicing blending syllables together! 🎉

Syllables are parts of words, and blending means putting those parts together to make a whole word.

Try saying the parts slowly and have your child blend them together:
🧁 cup + cake = cupcake
☀️ sun + shine = sunshine
🐝 bee + hive = beehive
🎒 back + pack = backpack

You can make it fun by clapping the syllables or saying them like a robot before blending them together! 🤖👏

Practice around the house, in the car, or while shopping by breaking words into parts and letting your child guess the whole word. Blending syllables helps build strong reading and listening skills! 💙📚

🐴☀️ It’s time for another Mustang Minute! ☀️🐴

This week, our K–2 Mustangs are practicing isolating the initial sound in words! 🎉

The initial sound is the very first sound you hear in a word. For example:
🍎 apple starts with /a/
🐶 dog starts with /d/
🚌 bus starts with /b/
🌞 sun starts with /s/

Try this fun activity at home or on the go:
👀 Look around the house, grocery store, or neighborhood and ask your child:
“What sound does that word start with?”

You can practice with items like:
🥛 milk → /m/
🪥 toothbrush → /t/
🚲 bike → /b/

Hearing beginning sounds helps children build strong reading and spelling skills! 💙📚

Our first Mustang Minute focuses on RHYMING! 🎉

Rhyming words are words that have the same ending sounds. For example:
🧦 sock & clock
🚪 door & floor
🪑 chair & bear
🛏️ bed & red

This week, challenge your child to become a “rhyme detective” around the house or neighborhood! See how many rhyming words they can find while playing, riding in the car, walking outside, or helping at home. 🚗🏡🌳

Rhyming helps young readers hear sounds in words, which is an important early reading skill for our K–2 Mustangs! 💙📚

📣 Introducing Mustang Minute! 🐴☀️

This summer, we’re bringing learning home in a fun and easy way for our K–2 Mustangs! Beginning this week, every Tuesday and Thursday we’ll share a quick “Mustang Minute” video featuring one of our amazing teachers introducing a simple phonics activity families can do together at home. 📚✨

Each video is only a minute(ish) long, making it easy to fit learning into your summer schedule while helping our young readers keep their skills sharp and growing! 💙

✨ENROLLMENT RAFFLE✨
This week we drew names of students who are enrolled for school next year!! Students won lunch outside for their class, extra recess for their class, popsicles, and even a water balloon fight with our admin team!!
