Animal Investigation & Response

Animal Investigation and Response is a 501(c)(3) animal protection organization that assists law enforcement and communities with animal abuse related issues such as puppy mills, animal hoarding, blood sports and assists in disaster relief. Based in Texas, Animal Investigation and Response was formed by two certified animal cruelty investigators who saw a need to help connect individuals, law enforcement and animal control with strategies and resources to investigate as well as provide aid for situations that exceed the scope of a communities reach.

Mission: Animal Investigation and Response's mission is to connect law enforcement, animal control and individuals with strategies and resources to investigate and help build the strongest case against large scale animal abuse.

Saying goodbye to the animals we’ve spent weeks (and in most cases months) caring for and bonding with, is always bittersweet. Our hearts are touched by each and every one of them, but we know that they’re on their way to a brighter future. ❤️

The overwhelming response to our Freedom Flock campaign has blown us away,❤️ but we still need $403 more to reach our goal! 🐓

When we set out to rehabilitate and rehome the 58 of The Freedom Flock, our hopes were high and they were NOT let down. Thanks to the phenomenal generosity of our supporters, we are only a few hundred dollars short of our $4,600 goal. Saving these roosters has been tough work as resources for fighting roosters are virtually non-existent, but it’s been more than worth it to see these survivors thrive! Even if it was only the equivalent of a cup of coffee, all the donations we've received have added up big time for these beautiful birds. Help us finish this campaign off strong by helping us raise this last $403 and stay tuned for the conclusion to The Freedom Flock's journey.

There are two ways to HELP the roosters reach their goal:

1️⃣ SPONSOR A ROOSTER - Sponsoring one of The Freedom Flock requires a minimum donation of $80. This covers their care, vetting and testing costs, a health certificate, as well as all transport costs to their destination (over 1000 miles from the DFW area) where they will be worked with in preparation for adoption. Your sponsorship gives you the opportunity to NAME the rooster you saved.

Sponsor one of The Freedom Flock here: donorbox.org/the-freedom-flock-sponsorship

2️⃣ DONATE TO OUR FUNDRAISER - Making a donation of ANY amount toward their care to help cover the $4,600 cost of this Response so they can have a new life.

It’s officially the weekend and today, all eyes are on the precious Purrt Reynolds of the #PunnyCats! 😻 His fierce stare lets us know he means business...show business that is. 😜 Let’s all put our paws together to show this cool cat the love he deserves!

Help AIR keep pals like Purrt purring by donating any amount you can spare to our operations! As the only mobile emergency response group in Texas, we rely on our wonderful supporters to help with the costs of care and placement for these babies. Watch out AIR supporters 👀 Butch Catsidy, another one of our #PunnyCats, has come to steal your love, attention, and chin rubs! ❤️ Let’s be honest, how could anyone say no to this cutie?

Your donations are an extremely important part of our rescuing missions. Not only do they purchase food & supplies to keep the rescued cats healthy and safe, but your contributions also extend to placing them into their new fur-ever homes. We can’t do this without you! Please consider donating to AIR today. Any amount helps these animals have a successful life after neglect:animalinvestigationandresponse.org/donate.

As our field team prepares the roosters for the possibility of getting on the road to their new beginnings, we would like to thank everyone that has contributed to their plight! We are just $2,348 short of their goal.

FUN FACT - Testing day for the roosters was not as eventful as we expected. While waiting in line to be tested, our field team held them like babies and most of them took naps while they patiently waited their turn. 😴

Want to know how to help these roosters begin spreading their wings after cockfighting? You can cock-a-doodle-do your part by sponsoring one of our Freedom Flock for $80. 🐓 This amount gives you the unique opportunity to NAME A ROOSTER, covers all the care the rooster has already received and will continue to receive, vetting & testing costs, health certificates, and all transportation fees.

Saving these animals is tough work, but it’ll be worth it to see these survivors thrive! ❤️ Let’s prove that giving these roosters a better bird life is more than possible and meet our goal of $4,600. Consider sponsoring one of our Freedom Flock today:

Right here, right MEOW, let’s hear it for the red, white, and WOOF! Happy #4thofJuly from AIR 🇺🇸

While we celebrate our freedom today, let’s remember that animals deserve freedom too, though they cannot speak for themselves. That’s why we investigate and respond, to reassure our furry friends that we not only hear their cries for help, we act on them. 💪

We also want to emphasize how important it is to keep an extra cautious eye on all pets today, as this holiday unfortunately results in many missing animals. Practice pet safety today and have a wonderful 4th of July!

#DidYouKnow? Cockfighting is a crime in all 50 states and, in Texas, it is actually a felony to cause birds to fight with one another and/or to use property for the purpose of cockfighting, punishable by up to two years in a state jail and/or up to a $10,000 fine.

Many of the roosters in our Freedom Flock had been starved, had their crowns/spurs mutilated, and were purposely housed in an inhumane way daily… solely for the illegal sport of humans.
Confiscated roosters are almost always euthanized as there are so few options to rehabilitate and responsibly rehome them with any quality of life. In many instances, judges order euthanaisa from the bench.

Relocating these roosters for a chance at a better life and rehabilitation is unconventional and a bold step in the animal welfare profession, as resources for fighting roosters are virtually non-existent. We have this very unique opportunity for this group of birds and a small window of time to accomplish this feat. There are a couple ways you can help:

1️⃣ SPONSOR A ROOSTER - Sponsoring one of The Freedom Flock requires a minimum donation of $80. This covers their care, vetting and testing costs, a health certificate, as well as all transport costs to their destination (over 1000 miles from the DFW area) where they will be worked with in preparation for adoption. Our most recent response of cats threw a hiss-y fit when they realized they didn't have a snazzy response name like the Hollywood Hounds or the Freedom Flock! So after much discussion and negotiations with everyone from Purrt Reynolds to Romeow here, they have decided that they will be referred to as the Punny Cats; all have pun cat names (yes, that's a thing 😉)

Per our negotiations, we’ll be showcasing some of their paw-some cat-titudes next week. 😺 We hope as they steal the stage, they’ll steal your hearts, as well. ❤️.

We’ll never stop our mission, and we hope you’ll join us in the fight to save and rehome these precious animals. AIR needs your generous donations in order to keep our feline friends happy & healthy 💕. As the only mobile emergency response team in Texas, your monetary donations allow us to keep operations open, and ultimately save countless animal lives. Any amount you can spare helps our fight, so please consider making a tax-deductible donation to our efforts: animalinvestigationandresponse.org/donate.

Cock-A-Doodle-Doo! 🐓 Last week, Animal Investigation & Response conducted blood-testing for roosters that we recently assisted in rescuing from a cockfighting ring. These roosters were tested for deadly diseases like Bird Flu and Pollorum, in order to determine if a bird is healthy enough for placement. All hands (and wings!) were on deck to make sure all 58 feather-y friends got the care & testing they needed. ❤️

AIR is honored to be able to keep these birds away from the violence of cockfighting, and get them one step closer to living a safer, better life. Special thanks to all of our volunteers & staff for dedicating their love, care, and time to AIR’s very first cockfighting response!

After 7 tornadoes touched down in Van Zandt County near Canton in April of 2017, the Canton Animal Shelter requested the assistance of AIR Responders for assessment, daily care, medical, enrichment and placement assistance. All animals (including Dicky, this kind hearted pot bellied pig) were accepted to placement partners out of state where the animals attended a national adoption event linked to Miranda Lambert.

If you’d like to be a part of AIR’s mission to help save rescued animals, consider donating any amount of money you can, or even necessary supplies to support our cause! animalinvestigationandresponse.org/donate

📣 ANNOUNCEMENT: Our Team has been pulling DOUBLE DUTY! On the morning of June 7, 2020, Wise County Sheriffs Department served a search warrant at an address that was reported to have a cockfight underway. Authorities made 17 arrests and about 30 others were ticketed for attending the fight. They also confiscated several sets of razor sharp gaffs used for the fights.
Animal Investigation & Response field team assisted the Sheriffs Dept and a partner agency with the intake and documentation of the roosters. 🐓
🩺 This week we will be testing the roosters for diseases to see if they are eligible for Rescue placement out of state. Their care and testing will cost us approximately $1200.00

We understand this is a bit unconventional for fighting roosters, BUT when we commit to animals that come into our care, we will move mountains to do our best to give them a chance for a positive outcome where they will thrive and have an opportunity to be a happy member of someones life. ❤️ We have done some extensive research and have found that cockfighting roosters have been successfully placed and that they typically are very rehabable. If you can consider a donation toward the roosters' care and testing, they would very much appreciate it!

Animal Investigation & Response is an animal protection, non profit organization that assists law enforcement and animal control with the resources for large scale animal cruelty or disaster response. Our services are at no charge to the requesting agency. AIR is the only *mobile Animal Emergency Response Team that services the entire state of Texas.

We do this work so the animals have more opportunities for positive outcomes. Please consider a donation of any amount to support the care of animals that come from suspected cruelty situations.

Placement is a huge piece of the puzzle to having a positive outcome for the animals that come from cruelty situations. It’s also one of the resources we provide assistance to an agency that has a large scale animal cruelty situation on their hands. Since AIR Responders work with the animals each day, we become invested in finding the purrr-fect fit for their placement and eventual furr-ever home, which includes all the resources and love they need to continue to thrive! 🐾

You can also help these animals have a better life by contributing to AIR through donations. As a non-profit organization we depend on volunteer efforts and donations from animal-lovers like you to keep our operations and responses mobile!

#DidYouKnow our AIR Responders have to go through an in-depth training process to ensure they know exactly how to handle whatever situation they’re thrown into? It’s so important that everyone on our team knows how to safely care for and rescue these animals, for the sake of both humans and animals. 👩❤️🐶

If you want to get involved while we’re hard at work on some recent responses - you can help AIR Responders by donating or by signing up to participate in the next round of training to assist in our responses!

Many times, animals that come from these types of situations are fearful or shy of humans due to lack of attention and care. Our skilled team of AIR Responders spend many hours providing daily care and enrichment with each cat to make sure they are thriving, healthy, and happy! 😽

These hours spent are incredibly important to make sure each cat is improving while the cats await to be transferred to approved Rescue Partners. AIR Responders often spend weeks with these cats to ensure their health, demeanor, and overall condition is optimal for a speedy placement in their new fur-ever homes! 💕

AIR relies completely on donations to respond to these situations all across Texas. This means we need YOUR help to keep our operations and responses mobile! Please consider contributing a one time or monthly donation at animalinvestigationandresponse.org/donate

On May 21, 2020, AIR was called to assist a local animal shelter with the care and enrichment of approximately 70 cats that were seized from a home with unsanitary conditions, and placed in the custody of the shelter. AIR’s emergency sheltering team quickly started meeting the cats' every need through daily care and much needed TLC! ❤️
