The MMIWTXR Powwow Committee has been hard at work everyone. We hope to offer not only a safe space to gather but offer opportunity to be with community and heal and grow. We felt this year would be great to try and offer an educational component. We put a call out and asked all the amazing MMIWP Leaders and Advocates we've worked with before and we've curated a great panel. This important and powerful conversation will happen before Gourd dance begins on Saturday May 2nd. The conversation will be moderated by our organization member Stephen Silva Brave. This opportunity to listen and learn from strong women doing this work is not one to miss. Listen in on topics these leaders feel are important. We hope to see you there

🫙✨ Secure your spot now to attend a cooking class conducted by Chefsville and Chef Scott Horwitz on Saturday, April 25. This second in a series of cooking classes will be a hands-on exploration of the rich culinary traditions of Native American cultures. Some with a modern twist. Participants will delve into the history, significance, and preparation of traditional Native American foods, gaining a deeper understanding of the connection between food, culture, and community.

All ingredients and cooking tools as well as printed recipes and educational materials from the "Chefsville’s Native American Cuisine Program" will be provided.

🕥 Evening Session: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM (set-up starts at 4:30)
📍 Location: Flower Mound Community Activity Center (1200 Gerault Road, Flower Mound TX 75028)

Bring your family and friends to our April General Membership Meeting at Flower Mound Community Activities Center (1200 Gerault Road, Flower Mound TX 75028) on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Come out to participate in the raffle / giveaway, learn from the microgreen demonstration, see the CCNT Gear, and fellowship with other members.

The focus on 2026 member gatherings is sustaining & growing the org, building fellowship & providing cultural awareness & experiences. We are striving to ensure people are introduced, the CN language is supported with a word each time, a get to know each other activity occurs in addition to minding the business.

Special guest speaker, C. D. Mayfield will share stories of his ancestor, Nancy Ward.

Our three-sister garden was planted despite the rain this morning. Our students and families showed up with excitement, ready to get their hands dirty, learn, and plant. A huge Thank you to Annette Anderson for coming out and blessing our new garden. Another huge thank you to our parent, Mr. Fernando, for sharing his knowledge of native gardens with our students.

Join us March 17-21, for our Three Sisters Celebration!

Experience Chickasaw traditions through art, history, dance, traditional food samplings, planting in the spiral garden as well as outdoor demonstrations like bow making, flint knapping and hide tanning.
