Forty Fort would like to once again thank all of the amazing sponsors who helped make National Night Out such a huge success!

Hundreds of families came out Friday night to relax, enjoy the beautiful weather, and show their support for our community. From all the wonderful freebies to the activities and, of course, the outstanding fireworks display, it was a night to remember!

That’s what it’s all about — uniting our borough, supporting our residents, and showing what makes Forty Fort such a special place to call home!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening possible, and to all of our residents and neighboring communities who came out to celebrate with us.

Position Overview
The Borough of Forty Fort is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and community-focused professional to serve as its next Borough Manager.
About the Borough
Located in Luzerne County, Forty Fort is a vibrant residential and historic community with a strong sense of civic pride. The Borough has dedicated municipal employees and a Borough Council committed to providing high-quality public services.
Forty Fort Borough encompasses approximately 1.3 square miles and serves a population of 4,252 residents. The Borough operates with an annual budget of approximately $3.44 million. In addition, the Borough Manager provides administrative services to a neighboring municipality with an annual budget of approximately $1.32 million, bringing the combined municipal budgets under the Manager’s administrative responsibility to approximately $4.76 million.
Position Responsibilities
The Borough Manager reports directly to the Borough Council President and serves as the chief administrative officer of the Borough, overseeing daily municipal operations while implementing the policies and priorities established by Borough Council. Key responsibilities include:
• Administration, HR and operations: Direct day-to-day operations of all Borough departments; supervise municipal staff; and provide leadership to department heads.
• Finance and project management: Prepare and administer the annual operating and capital budgets; manage Borough finances, purchasing, contracts, grants, and special projects.
• Council support and policy implementation: Advise Borough Council on municipal operations, policies, and strategic initiatives; prepare agendas, reports, and supporting materials for Council meetings.
• Compliance and public records: Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including serving as the Borough Right-to-Know Officer.
• Community and intergovernmental relations: Serve as the primary liaison with residents, businesses, governmental agencies, and community organizations; support long-range planning, infrastructure improvements, and community initiatives.
• Shared-services support: Provide similar borough management services to a nearby community under an established contractual arrangement.

Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess:
• A bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, finance, political science, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience.
• Municipal management or comparable executive leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of Pennsylvania municipal government, budgeting, finance, personnel administration, and public works.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with elected officials, municipal employees, residents, and other local government officials.
• Previous grant writing and administration and project management experience preferred.

The agenda for the August 17, 2026 Forty Fort Borough council work session is on display for public inspection at the office of the secretary, 1271 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, PA. It can also be viewed on the Borough's website, fortyfort.org by going to E-Government, Council, meeting agendas and on the Savvy Citizen app. This meeting will be held in council chambers on the second floor of the Borough Building, beginning at 6:00 PM and is open to the public.
