Listen up and listen good if you’re serious about new leadership in the state of Ohio....
Serious about getting rid of any incumbent politician? Here’s the ONLY way to do it....
#1. Donate ANY amount you can to the candidate you support.
WHY??? Political races are incredibly expensive. DO NOT expect a savior to come along, forgo their privacy, put their loved ones through hell as they stand up for you and go bankrupt all at the same time. When the public falls to take an active role in the process, the special interests will come in where you fall short.
#2. Sign up immediately to volunteer on the campaign of the candidate you support and plan to be activated.
WHY??? Establishment candidates have the Arsenal of the THOUSANDS of Ohio Republican Party members in all 88 counties to knock doors, fundraise, phone bank, campaign for, host events, stuff envelopes, do literature drops etc. and they are LOYAL soldiers to the party and their selected candidates:
#3. Don’t be a lazy voter. Instead of demanding an incredibly busy grassroots candidate respond to your every whim and Facebook question. Instead, go to candidate’s events yourself, research the candidates website etc.
#4. Don’t blindly trust endorsements without looking at the history of the endorser and the candidates record. Many times these endorsers are nothing more than an arm of the Republican Swamp Establishment where endorsements are bought and paid for, then marketed to an unsuspecting public who fails to screen candidates thoroughly. (I.e. the NRA endorsed incumbent Governor Mike Dewine who’s currently building gun control in the state budget and was rated an F at one point with the NRA. OR in the case of Ohio Right to Life = They are an abortion regulating organization with no intention to stop abortion in Ohio. Don’t be fooled by a commercial or postcard mailer with random endorsements.
#5. Look at the candidates financials. In other words, understand thoroughly who funds these candidates. If a candidate is largely funded by the special interests, PAC’s, super PACS, lobbyists etc. you can rest assured, your interests WILL take a back seat to legislative Priority.
#6. Don’t assume Facebook and social media are the primary indicators for an election win to oust a sitting politician. Millions of dollars are pumped in to the public space by means of mailers, digital media, commercial media, print media and campaign gimmicks. While many of you are on social media, there’s an overwhelming segment of the primary voting population who have zero clue about what’s going on via FB, Instagram or Twitter.
Thus, the importance of fundraising and copious amounts of volunteers. Statewide name recognition isn’t cheap and it’s takes all hands on deck.
#7. If your goal is to oust an incumbent, you’re already in a very tough position because they have the resources and you don’t. If you’re running in a primary election, focus your support on the candidate you are behind versus attacking other primary contenders. Again- if you’re running against a career politician, you already have an immense undertaking.
#8. Please don’t say things like “Donald Trump won using Twitter and Facebook/Social media”. Donald Trump was an anomaly. Trump was a global brand a household name and a pop culture icon for DECADES with unparalleled name recognition across the world. Even with that leg up, millions and millions were still pumped in to his campaign.
- If your serious about being represented by new leadership, be realistic and most importantly, be ready to roll your sleeves up to help a constitutional Conservative get elected.
