Fostoria Ohio Glass Assoc. Opens New Fund at Greater Fostoria Community Foundation

Glass Heritage, Inc. has recently opened an Organization Fund with the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation. The purpose of the fund is to support the operating, program and/or capital needs of Glass Heritage, Inc, which is doing business as Fostoria Ohio Glass Association.

“The Fostoria, Ohio Glass Association was organized in 1992 to promote public awareness and appreciation of the history of the Fostoria, Ohio glass industry. Our desire to continue this mission is why the board decided to establish a fund within the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation, ensuring future generations will know the importance of glass manufacturing in Fostoria,” said Bill King, President of the Fostoria Ohio Glass Association.

The Glass Association chose to open a non-endowed organization fund, which is a relatively new type of fund being offered through the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation.

“We are happy to support the efforts of the Fostoria Ohio Glass Association with this type of fund that gives them the flexibility to use more of the fund balance than a classic endowed fund would, which only allows use of a calculated percentage of the fund’s balance. The non-endowed organization fund must maintain a minimum $10,000 balance and allows up to 12 distributions per year, giving them access to use the funds as needs arise or to let the fund continue to build if no distributions are needed,” said Michele Cochran, Executive Director of the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation.

SEASON OPENING DAY
On Thursday, March 5th, the Fostoria Glass Heritage Gallery will open its 36th year of operation in Fostoria, Ohio. Over 1,100 pieces of Fostoria manufactured glassware and lamps are on display and available for the public to enjoy. New pieces have been added recently. In March, the Fostoria Glass Heritage Gallery is open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Beginning in April, the Gallery will expand the days and hours it is open to Wednesday-Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m..

MEMBERSHIPS
Memberships help to purchase Fostoria, Ohio-made glass for display in the Fostoria Glass Heritage Gallery as well as support the mailing of Victoria Views newsletters, utilities, insurance, general maintenance, advertising and other operating expenses. Note: there is no admission fee to visit the Glass Gallery and none of the officers, docents or volunteers are compensated for their work.

You can become a member of the Fostoria Ohio Glass Association by filling out the membership form available at: fostoriaglass.com. New members will receive a copy of Mel Murray’s book, Fostoria Ohio Glass II, a $20 value. However, if the book requires mailing and you want the book, it will require an extra $4 to cover shipping.
