We want to take a quick moment to congratulate Steve Anderson on his retirement. Steve has served with the Tuscola County Sheriff's Department for the past 27 years, and has been serving as the county's Emergency Manager. Over the years he has played a vital role with local fire departments and providing assistance with various needs. He will be missed by not only our department, but by the County as a whole. We wish him the best of luck in his new endeavors!

Looks like mother nature is gracing us with another round of weather. Stay informed and have a great night.

It's that time of year again! After a long winter we can all agree on the welcomed return of warmer spring weather. It's a great time to get out and do that spring cleaning on your property. Remember to obtain your burn permit if your looking to do any open burning, which is anything outside of an enclosed ring. To obtain a permit please send your request to [email protected] and we will send the information back to you on obtaining a yearly permit for the remainder of 2026 for free. Please allow 24 business hours for a reply.

Please remember that permits are only approved and granted for burning organic natural brush. Prohibited items that are not allowed to be burned include:

Garbage
Building Materials
Chemicals/Fluids
Tires
Furniture
Vehicles
Structures
Basically, if it's not natural vegetation, it's not allowed.

If you have any questions, please contact the department. Thank you and have a great spring everyone!

We have been asked to pass along the following information about the flag being at half mast:

I received some questions about the flag at the hall being at half mast. Last week the governor ordered the flag to be at half mass for Reverend Jesse Jackson, the flag was then put to to full mass and lowered again to half mast in memory of former Fire Chief Alfred Dale Herington. The flag at the Township Hall will remain at half mast until Monday, March 23rd after the celebration of Life of our former Chief. As always, if you have any questions feel free to reach out to me by email or phone. Thank you. God bless.

Earlier today, we were able to send 10 firefighters to DRI Ice Rescue Technician training where they became ice and shore certified for ice rescue emergencies. With spring right around the corner, we enter a season where ice conditions can change rapidly, which means we must be prepared for ice rescues should the need arise. We would like to thank the Saginaw County Sheriff Department Dive team for hosting the training, the guys had a blast! If you think this looks like something your interested in, we are always welcoming new members on the department. Talk to a firefighter about joining today!

From our family to yours, Happy New Year!
