**Volunteer Firefighter Recognition Day 🚒❤️**

Today, we recognize and honor the men and women who volunteer their time, energy, and sometimes even their own safety to protect their neighbors and communities.

Volunteer firefighters answer the call at all hours—leaving their families, jobs, and everyday lives behind to respond when someone needs help. They train, maintain equipment, fight fires, respond to accidents, assist during emergencies, and serve their communities without expecting anything in return.

To every volunteer firefighter: **thank you for answering the call.** Your courage, sacrifice, dedication, and willingness to serve make a difference every single day.

Congratulations to our friends across the county on the purchase of this valuable asset.

Yesterday, we dispatched Chief Mike Thacker , Assistant Chief Jamie Paulette Lieutenant Lacy Marquez , and Firefighter Liz Asbel as the transport crew to inspect and retrieve our new engine for addition to our fleet. This engine will replace our aging and worn Engine 51 on a first-due basis. Please be aware that over the next few weeks, we will be focused on preparations, decals, and the transfer of tools to this new equipment

It has been a pleasure working with Assistant Chief Doty of Manlius Fire Department-Illinois , during the purchasing process of this equipment.

Please bear with us while we prepare this unit, as we are excited to put it into service for the citizens of Miller County.

As our budget has taken a hit with this purchase and the amount equipment needing duplicated. Chief Mike reminds everyone that DONATIONS are always welcome!
