On the first day of milling the road surface on Highway 35 south of Fountain City, there was a 3-vehicle accident. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured in this accident. The association wants to give a friendly reminder to the public to pay extra attention to your surroundings while traveling through the road construction zone. The safety of construction workers and others traveling depends on everyone. Also, the department's response times are affected by the construction traffic backups whether responding to an accident within the construction zone, an accident elsewhere, fire, or rescue. Association members have to commute through the work zone to the fire station from their homes or places of employment and then navigate the work zone in emergency response vehicles from the fire station to the scene of the accident, fire, or rescue. So, please be mindful of your surroundings, and as always, give the road your full attention. Thank you!

Today, some of our members took part in a mass casualty training exercise at Alma High School.

While we hope our community never faces an event like this, we train so we’re ready to protect and serve when it matters most.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to sharpen our skills and work alongside others.
