Fountain Hill Fire Company

Members of the Fountain Hill Fire Company had the pleasure of visiting Healthy Environments Child Development Center, LLC to provide a fire prevention presentation to the children and staff.

Our visit focused on teaching the children important fire safety basics while giving them the opportunity to meet and become familiar with firefighters and our gear. By helping children understand who we are and what we do, we hope to make them feel more comfortable approaching firefighters during an emergency, when every second counts.

A special thank you to Healthy Environments Child Development Center, LLC for welcoming us and helping us make fire safety education a positive and memorable experience for the children!

🚒 Our mission goes beyond fighting fires. We are here to educate, protect, and build trust within our community.

At approximately 4:00 AM today, Fountain Hill Fire Company (Station 34), along with mutual aid units, was dispatched to the 900 block of Cherokee Street for an automatic fire alarm.

Chief 34 arrived shortly after dispatch and reported a confirmed electrical fire that had self-extinguished prior to crews’ arrival. Responding crews subsequently arrived on scene and checked for any fire extension before clearing the incident.

⚠️ HOME HEATING & ELECTRICAL SAFETY REMINDER ⚠️

As we continue into the colder months, we encourage residents to take a few minutes to inspect home heating equipment and electrical appliances before use.

✅ Inspect space heaters, cords, plugs, and other electrical appliances for damage or signs of overheating.

✅ Keep space heaters away from furniture, curtains, bedding, and other combustible materials.

✅ Avoid overloading outlets and power strips.

✅ Ensure smoke alarms are working properly, and never ignore an activated alarm.

✅ If you discover an electrical fire, smoke, or burning odor, get to safety and call 911. Do not attempt to handle an electrical fire yourself.

A few minutes of prevention can help protect your home, your family, and our community.
