On Saturday, December 14, 2024, members of the S.C. State Guard 2nd Battalion gathered to honor our nation’s fallen heroes at an annual Wreaths Across America ceremony. Soldiers from our battalion assisted with ceremony set-up and proudly participated in placing wreaths at Liberty Memorial Gardens in Liberty, SC. The Wreaths Across America Mission is: Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach the next generation the value of freedom. As we celebrate this season, may we each pause to reflect on the freedoms we hold dear and those who secured those freedoms at great cost to themselves and their loved ones.

Tropical Storm has formed in the Caribbean and is forecasted to be a major hurricane as it approaches Florida.
What can we see in South Carolina?
will be a statewide event.
Heavy rainfall, flash flooding, gusty winds, and tornadoes are all likely across the state Thursday and Friday. The current rainfall forecast calls for 4-8 inches of rain (isolated amounts up to 12 inches), with the heaviest falling in the Midlands and the Upstate. There is an increasing threat for tornadoes, especially overnight on Thursday.
Everyone should monitor the storm via local news media and follow updates from the National Hurricane Center.

Today, we pause to honor and remember those who lost their lives and the heroism of the first responders on Sept. 11, 2001. We will never forget.

The SCSG-2BN-Highlanders was honored to host the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps - Guadalcanal Squadron - Greenville,SC from Greenville, SC, and their unit leader, Ens. Ed Leese, at the June Drill. The cadets participated in various activities, providing hands-on training for our personnel, including S.C. State Guard Deputy Commander BG William Hollingsworth, who inspected the naval personnel in their summer whites. During the lunch hour, the cadets put on a spectacular demonstration and had the opportunity to learn more about the State Guard. We commend these amazing cadets on a job well done and look forward to working with them more in the future.

The Guadalcanal Squadron, part of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, offers young individuals aged 13-17 a chance to learn about the Navy or Coast Guard, developing leadership skills, character, and embracing core values like Honor, Courage, and Commitment.
