A 3-section 35-foot extension ladder weighs approximately 170 pounds. While putting together a training video, Lt. Wyatt Comer flipped it onto his shoulder and made it look EASY before raising it to the top of a 30-foot roof. 🪜🚨

It might seem like it sometimes, but Fountain firefighters aren't immortals. Their success is the result of proper technique and constant training. 💪

Expanding Advanced Care: Cyanokit

Fountain Fire Department continues to expand the advanced medical care our paramedics can provide before a patient ever reaches the hospital.

One of the newest medications now carried on all Fountain Fire Department ambulances is Cyanokit (hydroxocobalamin), a medication used to treat suspected cyanide poisoning. Many people associate cyanide with industrial or chemical exposures, but it can also be produced when certain materials burn during a structure fire. For patients exposed to smoke in an enclosed environment, cyanide toxicity can become a serious and potentially life-threatening concern.

Recently, Fountain Fire Department paramedics administered Cyanokit to a patient following a structure fire where cyanide exposure from smoke inhalation was suspected. Having this medication immediately available means our paramedics can begin potentially lifesaving treatment in the field rather than waiting until the patient reaches the hospital. This represents a significant advancement in the level of care we can provide our community and is part of our continued effort to bring advanced, critical-care capabilities into the prehospital environment.

Our goal is simple: when minutes matter, bring the right treatment to the patient as quickly as possible.

Advanced Care. Close to Home.

Today, the Fountain Fire Department had the opportunity to recognize the team at Colorado Industrial Recycling with a plaque of appreciation for their outstanding support of our training efforts.

Their generosity in allowing our crews to train on their property and providing salvaged vehicles has been invaluable. These hands-on training opportunities allow our firefighters to sharpen their vehicle extrication and stabilization skills in realistic scenarios, helping ensure we are prepared when our community needs us most.

We are grateful for their partnership, hospitality, and commitment to supporting public safety. Thank you, Colorado Industrial Recycling, for helping us train to serve our community more effectively!

Fire crews are currently on scene of a natural gas leak on Rolling Ridge Road.

Rolling Ridge Road is closed in both directions south of Appletree Loop and is expected to remain closed for approximately one hour. Nearby evacuations have been completed, and there are currently no reported injuries.

Please avoid the area and use an alternate route while crews work to safely mitigate the incident. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Today at Fire House #2, our A-Shift crews participated in joint training with Security Fire Department, focusing on apparatus and equipment familiarity and horizontal standpipe deployment.

Training together strengthens our coordination, builds operational confidence, and ensures we’re prepared to work seamlessly alongside our mutual aid partners when it matters most.
