It meets NFPA 1041 (2019 Edition) requirements and fulfills the instructor training prerequisite for Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I certification testing through the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.

This week, Fountain Fire Department crews sharpened their vehicle extrication skills through hands-on training designed to prepare for real-world emergencies.

With our firefighters responding to multiple traffic accidents on Fountain’s roadways, continuous training is essential to ensure we can safely and efficiently remove trapped occupants while providing rapid emergency care.

Training today means a faster, safer response when our community needs us most.

A special thank you to Colorado Industrial Recycling for generously providing a training location and donated vehicles. Partnerships like these are invaluable in helping us maintain the skills needed to serve our community safely and effectively.

At 2:00 pm Fountain is enacting stage 2 fire restrictions. This decision does not come lightly, but was done with the safety of our community in mind. The weather is forecasted to be hot and dry, and the risk of wildland fires remains high with multiple large fires already burning in the state. With any fire restrictions all sale and use of fireworks is banned. See a short message from our Fire Marshal about this.

Yes, the smoke looks very threatening today in Fountain, but the in western Pueblo County is approximately 50 miles to the southwest, so it poses no danger to our immediate area.

At this time, no Fountain FD resources have been requested to assist.

Our thoughts today are with the families of three firefighters killed while battling a wildfire on the Colorado-Utah border on Saturday.

They belonged to the U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Wildland Fire Service.

Two others were also injured.

When was the last time you tested your smoke alarm? Working smoke alarms provide an early warning during a fire and can make all the difference in helping you and your family get out safely.

- Test smoke alarms monthly
- Replace batteries at least once a year (Unless using sealed 10-year battery units)
- Replace smoke alarm every 10 years
- Install alarms outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home.

Take just a few minutes this weekend to check your smoke alarm. It is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect your family.
