At approximately 1800 hours, G612 and T612 were dispatched to a reported fire. Upon arrival, G612 located a large fire that had originated as a controlled burn. Due to strong winds and dry conditions, the fire quickly spread and became fully engulfed.

G612 initiated an aggressive attack, but crews worked for approximately one hour before the fire was fully extinguished. An estimated 7,000 gallons of water were used.

We would like to thank T651, E651 and G651 from Morristown Volunteer Fire Department -Indiana for their assistance, as well as a local farmer who used his tractor to help contain the spread of the fire.

This incident serves as an important reminder to use extreme caution when conducting controlled burns—especially during periods of high winds and dry conditions like we’ve recently experienced. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
