NEW TikTok FRAUD/SCAM - BE CAREFUL and PLEASE SHARE!!

I have had 4 residents come forward sharing that their house, which is currently up for sale, is being put on TikTok as a rental property. This house in Benton County is one example. The thief's are going to relator's websites, downloading the pictures/videos of the home, then putting them out to the world as "for rent" on their TikTok site.

I called the number to inquire of the owner and when I asked to meet them at the address so I could see the house, they declined saying they were out of State. When I told them I wanted to see it, they said they couldn't get there and then pressured me stating that I better act now as they have several people calling about it. They offered to hold the property for me if I sent them 2 months rent with one month acting as a deposit. All I needed to do was send them my bank account information and they would have the key to the property to me within 24 hours.

Of course when I said I was the Sheriff of Benton County and had additional questions, the phone call ended!

Do NOT fall for this Scam. Always check with a relator or contact the home owner and ask to see the house.

Good morning Benton County!

INDOT will start chip seal on SR 71 this morning. They will also have a fog seal crew on SR 18 starting at 52 heading east. Please avoid both State Roads if you can and find alternate routes. There will be flagging going on at both locations which creates significant traffic delays where the work is being done. The speed limit is reduced to 40 mph in those construction zones.

Deputies will be out patrolling for speeding, violations, and aggressive driving on both state roads as much as we can.

Thank you for your patience as state highway crews work to repair our roads in our county.

INDOT is back in Benton County finishing their chip seal project on State Road 18 between the E. County Line Rd. and US 52.

Just a reminder that SR 18 from the E. County Line Rd. to US 52 is a construction zone and the speed limit is 40 miles an hour. 40 mile an hour speed limit signs were placed over the normal speed limit sign on the post, along with several warnings about loose gravel and oil, flaggers in the roadway and construction.

If you can avoid the construction zone, please do so. If not, please use extreme caution and travel 40 miles an hour. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office is out patrolling State Road 18 for speeding in the construction zone and aggressive driving.

Reference this mornings fatal crash in Benton County

Update. The intersection of State Road 18 and County Road 1200 E. is now back open. 

Avoid the area. SR 18 is closed at 1200 E at this time while BCSO and other public safety they work a serious personal injury crash. ISP contacted for crash reconstruction.

INDOT started the chip/seal project on SR 18 from US 52 to SR 43 in Brookston. There are flaggers at both ends of this project and there’s a chase car that’s moving traffic through the construction zone.

If at all possible, avoid the area the chip/seal project is in and seek alternate routes. Today they are moving eastbound in the westbound lane.

If you must travel through that area, please use extreme caution as there are several pieces of equipment and several INDOT employees on the road managing the project.
