Benton County Economic Development

Benton County Economic Development Established to promote business retention and expansion as well as economic development on many levels within the entire county. Beginning January 1, 2010 the Benton County, Indiana Amended Capital Improvement Plan was adopted to specify the use of revenues received by the county from the economic development income tax (EDIT).

These revenues were planned to fund several different economic development projects including the funding of a Benton County Economic Development office. With the retention and expansion of our local business being the primary focus for the office, the Benton County Commissioners, Bryan Berry, Leon Cyr, and Kevin Leuck, hired a full-time Economic Development Director and a part-time Administrative Assistant.

We need your help!!
Some of you may know the Boswell Elementary School is in transition into Auxilius wind tech school. The school will only take up "some" space in the building... the rest of the building is being considered to create a "Makers Space/Innovation Center/Co-working Space".
My current, and only question for the moment is:
Is there an immediate need for co-working space with high speed internet capabilities (i.e., simple work space)
The idea of co-working space for now is renting cubical space with limited amenities (for the near future). We are working on bringing a fully functioning Makers Space/Innovation Center soon.
Feel free to email me any questions or opinions at [email protected]

Please read Dwight’s comments and please consider being a volunteer at The Fowler Theatre
Losing a business in our small community, either “for profit”, or “not for profit “ hurts ALL of our community.
Volunteers are what keep the prices low, volunteers are what keep our movie theater going.

WE NEED YOU!

We are run entirely by volunteers and are struggling to keep our doors open due to a lack of volunteers. We are looking for people who are willing to commit to working one night a month (Fri, Sat, or Sun). If you are responsible, dependable, willing to work, and are interested in giving back to the community by keeping our theatre open then you are exactly who we need!

You can volunteer as an individual, business, family, friend group, work group, and more. Contact Jill Byrd for more information (765) 884-8191 or [email protected].
