Benton County Economic Development Working to improve quality of life and place for Benton County residents and businesses.

Beginning January 1, 2010 the Benton County, Indiana Amended Capital Improvement Plan was adopted to specify the use of revenues received by the county from the economic development income tax (EDIT). These revenues were planned to fund several different economic development projects including the funding of a Benton County Economic Development office. With the retention and expansion of our local

business being the primary focus for the office, the Benton County Commissioners, Bryan Berry, Leon Cyr, and Kevin Leuck, hired a full-time Economic Development Director and a part-time Administrative Assistant.

Last week, Exec. Dir. NPO and Council V.P. Mike Tiede joined representatives from Jasper, White, and Benton Counties at the office of the Kankakee Iroquois Regional Planning Commission in Monon to learn about the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs’s Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Grant program from esteemed Northwest Indiana Senior Community Liaison Gerry White.

This program allows communities to support the rehabilitation of existing housing stock for residents meeting certain income qualifications and having eligible needs. Thank you to Gerry and to KIRPC for providing this great information.
