The Fowlerville Family Fair is celebrating its 140th year and will be held from July 27 through August 1. The Fowlerville Senior Center is very happy to be participating in the fair with a unique woodworking demonstration under the Grandstand and we would like some assistance from the Fowlerville Community with this project.

The Senior Center has obtained a ten-foot cedar log, which was donated by Master Logger, Jeff Gudwer, owner of Gudwer Forest Products, of Gladstone, Michigan. Now that we have our log, the important question is, what should we carve on our totem pole?

The totem carving will be done utilizing hand tools. We will carve approximately ten unique carvings of historical and current events commemorating and celebrating the Fowlerville area. We are asking residents of the Fowlerville area to send us carving suggestions, color pictures would be helpful, either by mail, at Fowlerville Senior Center, 203 N. Collins St, Fowlerville, MI 48836 or by email at [email protected].

The Senior Center’s totem pole carving will be held under the Grandstand, and our plan is to make this a real community participation event. Anyone who would like to assist in carving will have an opportunity to participate and carve on the totem pole.

No experience is necessary, we will show you how.
