🚩 RED FLAG WARNING – MARION COUNTY 🚩

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Red Flag Warning for Marion County from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM CST Sunday.

Expected conditions:
• North winds 15–25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph
• Relative humidity as low as 20–25%
• Very dry fuels that can allow fires to start easily and spread rapidly.

🔥 Impact:
Any fire that develops could quickly become difficult to control. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged during this time.

Please use caution with anything that may cause sparks and avoid outdoor burning.

On 12/28/25 at 8:20 pm SWMVFD responded to a single vehicle MVA roll over with entrapments. Once on scene, thankfully the man was able to climb out by his own strength and was transported to the hospital by AAA. 14 personnel and 2 engines responded. Thanks to the people who passed by and stopped to help!

As a volunteer fire department we know its hard to juggle everyday life plus volunteer your time for the community to help when their in need, but as SWMVFD thats what we strive to do everyday! Last night, we hosted our annual Christmas Party, marking a significant milestone with the addition of 5 new level 2 certified firefighters to our team. This expansion underscores Southwest's growth beyond mere numbers, as we continue our pursuit of excellence to become the premier department for our community. Unfortunately, several members were unable to attend, and they were deeply missed. “SOUTHWEST STRONG”
