Dalton Short is the winner of the quilt that was hand made by Jackie Murphy. Mrs Murphy made the quilt in honor of her grandson and the family and fire department conducted a fundraiser for the Frakes Volunteer Fire Department in memory of Kyle Garrett who passed away on Friday, December 3rd, 2021 while working at Bell County Dispatch Center. Garrett was a 6 year member of the Frakes Volunteer Fire Department and also had volunteered with the Bell County Rescue Squad. Kyle dedicated his adult life to helping others in need. Kyle is sorely missed by everyone that knew him. Thank you to Kyle's mamaw and family for this awesome tribute to Kyle, as we know this is exactly what he would have wanted as he always gave himself so selflessly.

The family of Kyle Garrett has put together a fundraiser in Kyle's memory for the Frakes Volunteer Fire Department. Kyle was a member of the Frakes Volunteer Fire Department and a 911 Dispatcher for Bell County 911. As you all may know, Kyle was tragically killed in a horrific accident on Dec. 3rd, 2021. The family wants to honor Kyle's memory by making sure his legacy of helping others and his love of his fellow first responders live on. The Frakes Volunteer Fire Department is honored to partner with the Garrett/Hatfield family to help pay homage to our fallen brother. You can purchase tickets for this raffle from Fire Department members or from Kyle's family members. We greatly appreciate everyone that has had a hand in this, as this is a true honor.

Always dial 911 if you have an emergency. Some of our folks have the Facebook calling muted and some do not have wifi calling and you all know we do good to get CB reception in Frakes. Just wanted to pass this along as some folks panic and try to call us individually. 911 can always get in touch with us through our radios and you will have a much quicker response time. Stay safe out there y'all and never hesitate to call us in your time of need!!

Anyone traveling KY HWY 190, please use extreme caution. From 25 E to the State Line, there are several very slick spots. Someone has hit the guardrail I'm Furnace Ridges, but had driven on. Again, please use extreme caution. With well below freezing temps right now, the salt they are putting down is melting the road and it's freezing back.

If you have to be out and about, please use extreme caution. The roads are extremely slick. What had melted under this new fallen snow, is now a solid sheet of ice. We love y'all and want to do our part to make sure each and every one of you are safe. Holler if you need us, just understand, it will be a very slow response.

(Picture was taken before the roads got really bad)

Another 18 wheeler wreck on Fonde Mountain? You have to be kidding with all the signs!! Nope, what a way to start the day. If y'all were traveling KY Hwy 74 between the hours of 7:30am and 12pm today, you all had to encounter this accident. Thankfully no one was injured and the truck was able to drive away after being moved and turned by the fine feller from Malone's Wrecker Service out of White Pine, TN. We had to wait quite awhile on him, because the owner of the trucking company wanted to use their own service instead of a local company, but when he got there, he went straight to work and got it done quickly. Thanks to Bell County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jody Risner for helping out and like always, being a top notch guy. Sorry for any delays anyone might have had this morning.
