A quick update on a busy few months for members of the FPD K-9 Unit, including some great finds from our K-9 teams.

From the beginning of May through the beginning of July, K-9 Ofcs. Buma (K-9 Bergy) and Lewis (K-9 Murph), assisted MSP and numerous other agencies, including municipal and Federal, with EOD protective sweeps at Gillette Stadium during the World Cup.

On July 3rd and 4th K-9 Lt. Curtis with K-9 Luca, K-9 Ofc. Buma (K-9 Bergy) and K-9 Ofc. Lewis (K-9 Murph), assisted MSP and other local agencies with EOD protective sweeps in Boston for the 4th of July festivities.

Last week, K-9 Ofc. Mangano and K-9 Isco responded to a call for service where a handgun was shown. After a track and area search of the area, K-9 Isco located a black handgun with an extended magazine that had been discarded into the woods. K-9 Ofc. Mangano and K-9 Isco have also assisted Worcester Vice Unit with several narcotics search warrants where K-9 Isco located large quantities of illegal narcotics.

This week K-9 Ofc. Lewis and K-9 Murph assisted detectives with a search warrant of a residence in Framingham in the attempt to locate a handgun. K-9 Murph located the firearm in the basement of the residence, hidden in a boot.

We would like to thank the continued effort and hard work of the members of our K-9 Unit. This also wouldn't be possible without the continuous support from all of our supporters and donations that help with extra training and equipment.

New K9 association sweatshirts are in! Stop by the Framingham Police Department this Saturday between 10am-2pm to grab yours now! Inventory and sizes (XS-3XL) are limited and cost $60. Venmo or cash are available payment options. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship at this time so purchases must be made in person. Depending on remaining inventory there may be another sale but they are expected to go quick.

All proceeds go to the FPD K9 Association and directly benefits the needs of the K9s

Framingham PDs K9 Unit continues to be an immense resource to the City of Framingham and the surrounding area, with 51 total deployments and 31 of those deployments to assist other agencies. Check out the rest of their 2025 Q4 stats!

Congratulations to our very own K9 Murph and K9 Ofc. Lewis. Their dedication to training, the safety of fellow officers and the community led to a very dangerous situation for all of those involved to be resolved in the best possible outcome. Congratulations to our K9 team and all of the other officers who received awards for their service to the community.

Officer A. Lewis and K9 Murph (Distinguished Service Award), Officer K. Pratt (Meritorious Service Award), and Officer B. Doyle (Chiefs Unit Award) received awards for their role in an incident that involved a man firing a handgun in a residential neighborhood and then barricading themselves in a vehicle. Their actions ensured the successful apprehension of the male.

Officer Macleod received a Police Commendation Award for his actions when responding to a vehicle that had crashed into a reservoir and become partially submerged. His selfless actions ensured that the front passenger was able to escape, and upon realizing that the rear passenger was trapped, he entered the vehicle and stayed with them to ensure they had access to air while they were rescued.

Officer C. Macleod received a second Police Commendation Award for his role in a foot chase that resulted in the apprehension of a man with a gun in his waistband.

Officer C. McDonald received a Letter of Merit for his role investigating a motor vehicle accident where a car had become partially submerged in a reservoir, resulting in an arrest for OUI.

Officer Higgins received the Military Service Award.

Receiving the Service Award is Lt. H. Wareham, who completed 30 years of service.
